I absolutely loved this. Say what you will about superhero movies. Marvel knows exactly how to pull at the heartstrings and make you care about their characters. This film is a real accomplishment, from one of the best openings to the biggest comic book battles ever filmed. Some of the fan service felt silly, but I can overlook that. I was very pleased with how they ended everything and how they ended the main characters. I cried both times I watched it. Truly is a perfect conclusion.

It must’ve been the thick cloud of BO strangling me for three hours on opening night but this was delightfully meh. I’m so stoked for another decade of nerds freaking out in theaters because they recognize Moon Knight and they want you to know how much their parents regret having them. People acting like they invested themselves into this franchise lol bitch plz before this we were all about Saw.

The man sits by himself in the now emptied theatre. Silence has reclaimed the room at last. He stands up slowly, as if a long, arduous task has just been completed. A moment passes that seems to last forever. Finally he adjusts his glasses and slowly, yet decidedly, nods. He walks out in silence. Wait. Is that a... twinkle in his eye? Or a little tea-OH GOD IT'S A LITTLE TEAR WHAT A WUSS AHAHAHA

Endgame is more of a homage to couple of Marvel movies and its characters than a movie on its own. It takes a risky road, leaves many unanswered questions (or u can say plot holes) Some of the characters and the choices in the movie disappointed me a little bit. However, the tone of nostalgia, extended unrushed narrative,(i love longer movies) emotional level and a few unexpected turning points in the story carry the movie to a certain level. Overall Endgame is a successful farewell to the saga.

If "Infinity War" was the big blow out bash, pulling out all the stops, then "Endgame", is the sluggish, hazy morning after, with the cleaning up of the mess from the night before. Clearly, there's less fun to be had here, but it's necessary and in its own way, satisfying. Still, it's the weakest Avengers movie of the bunch, even if that's still better than three quarters of the rest of the blockbusters out of there.

Marvel presents "Ocean's Eleven!" After 11 years, 22 films, 50+ heroes/villains and 48 hours of screen time, the MCU gets a much deserved and earned finale. Credit goes to all involved, in tying up loose ends, ending character arcs on a satisfying level, and wrapping up an entire universe with a big red ribbon. What I'm saying is that Marvel did in 48 hours what Game of Thrones couldn't do in 70 hours, with half the amount of story arcs. Ya blew it HBO....ya blew it!

A fine sendoff, even if it goes full Return of the King at the end(s). This series has earned it. I've been with Iron Man longer than my own son. I have a plethora of complaints but it is a fine sendoff. A fine sendoff. I reserve the right to change this rating by twenty points in either direction.

It's over, it's finally over! After 10 plus years and 22 films, I finally get to be done having to run out to the theater and see the latest addition of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe now I'll explore some more mature fare, and I guess maybe see what all the brouhaha around being an adult is all about, ...huh?...what?...wait..."Spider-Man: Far From Home"(2019) trailer begins to play....sigh...ugh...I mean...I guess...Disney...just...shut up and take my money.

Endgame is a truly gigantic cinematic spectacle that masterfully culminates the last 11 years and 22 films in the MCU. Whilst this isn’t a perfect film and there are concept flaws and some odd character decisions, as a companion piece and conclusion to IW this is such a fitting and ambitious finale from the Russo’s. I was enthralled throughout with so many wonderful character moments and incredible set pieces. But the enormity and scale of the final act was beyond my wildest expectations.

This was just too much, I enjoyed the cute ending but was pretty bored through a lot of it honestly. Unlike the first one I felt like I had seen it all before, sometimes literally. This movie has almost zero tension going for it. Most Marvel movies don't but I thought Infinity War was the first time they had actually managed to make me feel stakes so it's a bummer to just not care anymore. A heist was probably a bad route to go for the super saggy middle act.

Sorry, but what a bloated movie. overstocked with cheap heart-moments and small-universe syndrome. Also, these guys were built up for so many movies to be simply upstaged by a shoe-horned Captain Marvel (put her vs Thanos and Wakanda vs his army, call it good). Thor did nothing (though funny at first), after shining in Ragnarok. Hulk did even more nothing. There's not enough space to go into all the disappointment. And even if I wasn't invested in the characters it still wouldn't be a good film.

Tries to do absolutely everything within its run-time, and just about succeeds. Time travel is a dangerous area for a film like this, but it pretty much gets away with it. There is a lot of box-ticking in terms of giving characters screen time, and it doesn't feel quite as neatly-woven as its predecessor, but it ultimately comes together rather wonderfully and satisfyingly. So, a few nit-picks, but this is genuinely entertaining and involving blockbuster cinema. The bairns liked it. Recommended.

the rare film that is both completely subversive and incredibly predictable. I saw it opening night with some Marvel fan friends, and a lot of those fanservice moments feel like they're going to have diminishing returns. for what is meant to be a crescendo of 11 years of storytelling, a lot of it falls flat. the length of the movie feels appropriate, but a lot of the time spent filling that length does not. many moments (Girl Power!) are laughable. the last scene, however, is wonderful.

The best parts are the beginning. Spends a huge amount of time establishing the rules of time travel only to flaunt them ("Open portal") in order to bring about another giant battle scene (that looks the same as the one in the previous film). Only one of the time heists (soul stone) brings any drama - the ones with Rhodes and Banner are ridiculously easy - and even when they have to go back to 1970, the face no obstacles after that. The quiet moments work so much better than all the loud bits.

For a film that is supposed to be epic, it feels so small and petty. A bunch of superpowered children eventually have a big fight over putting a football gauntlet thing into a time machine goal - which is a surprisingly fun sportive action climax - in order to solve their differences. Good fun as a casual cinema experience.

A fitting coda to a lexicon built on 11 years of truly marvelous characters, themselves grounded on a foundation of spectacular actors. It's not perfect - but it's not really aiming for perfection, is it? It first lets us sit and drift into the consequences presented; showing us the cost of shame in a rather timely, potent way, which makes the price of redemption all the more impactful. Tony earns empathy; Nebula earns sympathy; Steve earns grace. We earn heroism by proxy.

A monumental achievement. Yes, the overstuffed middle lacks the kind of narrative momentum of smaller films, but it's bc there's so much story to tell. And the way it's told is amazing: the writers' choices & ideas are so wonderfully unexpected (underlining the hopelessness & that they really did lose the last time around; re-encountering the other films through time travel; & actually ending some characters) that it's not just a thrilling rollercoaster ride, but a profoundly moving one as well.

I hope I don't get murdered for this score. The truth is that I ended up really enjoying myself, I mean how could you not with an excellent cast and killer final act, but there was so much missing in the first hour and a half that I can't help be a little turned off. With some proper pacing and some clarification of certain plot points this might have been one of the best marvel could have offered. Yet, even without perfection, Endgame is a worthy conclusion to my last 10 years.

Without getting into spoilers, this film suffered from the sheer amount of plot it needed to fit in, and unlike A:IW it never managed to find a rhythm. Act one was pleasingly dark and sombre, but dragged on. Act two worked far better, but didn't quite get enough out of its novel premis. The third act was predictably big and noisy, but as a result lacked any real emotional resonance. That being said, it's still a competently made and entertaining film, and a decent cap on the overarching story.

From the devastating opening scene to the goosebump-inducing climactic action sequence, the scope and spectacle here will blow you away. Rich with humour (Thor and Ant-Man are highlights but even stoic Cap hass his moments), emotion, and inside references, it brings the MCU to a remarkable climax and resolve. After the blockbuster-high wears off some issues emerge (the main plot concept is severely underexplained; some characters are-understandably-neglected), but it remains a monumental film.

My reaction to the Girl Power Moment™ just about summed up my reaction overall: "This is unbelievably stupid and I love it." One problem is that I find it impossible to really remember what happened in the previous instalments. Another problem is that there are so many characters and I can't remember who they all are. A third problem is that as far as I can tell the plot seems nonsensical, even on its own terms. A fourth problem is that it's really like a sitcom but there aren't enough jokes and they aren't funny enough. A fifth problem is that everything is stretched out to an inordinate length. Otherwise not bad.

I'm really torn here. Suffers heavily from how it's basically just the third act of the previous movie that you know is going to be reset, and half the movie is taken up with a time-travel plot they could have had done in ten minutes. On the other hand, the big final fight is glorious, and finally after five Avengers movies finally manages to combine CGI action with some actual emotional punch to the reset button. Someone cut these two movies together to 120 minutes and I might like them better.

A fitting end to this phase of the universe, its a bit over the top sappy at times, but that's forgivable in an (whether you like it or not) unprecedented intertwined storytelling experience. It plays true to comic book action and extravaganza and makes for a pretty good popcorn experience.

Has the good graces to let out heroes stew in shame and failure for a good while, allowing them to grow and finally complete their arcs. The time heist idea is blatant fan service, but the Russos pull it off with aplomb, and we finally get a huge CGI battle that's emotionally satisfying! (How many blockbusters can lay claim to that?) Doesn't quite achieve tonal consistency, but still holds together well enough. The focus on Nebula was also appreciated, as I always liked her character.

Another few hours of Thanos trying to get those gauntlet skittles, but fairly enjoyable. The original core of heroes gets to shine in a film that is surprisingly light on action but big on heart. The time travel is the worst concept for a movie to try to handle. If you're not making especially a time travel movie (like 12 Monkeys) don't mess with it. Find any other solution to resolve your issues. The time travel created big problems for Harry Potter. Now the MCU has become ridiculous. Tons of plot holes and unanswered questions piled up. Stop being lazy and find something original. This giant turd overshadows a great character's heart breaking sacrifice.

It's as if Warner Bros had gotten their mitts on this franchise. Three hours of fan-service and hacky sentimentality in this appallingly bloated mess of dumb scenes - no wit, no intelligence, no moral argument, no pace, no story. No action that isn't choppy shaky-cam cgi dullness. I couldn't get over the astonishing hubris of the producers to think that this schmaltz was fit for release in this form. I'm not a massive Marvel fan. I don't cheer or clap with the crowd at every big moment. I'm just a watcher of films, a fan of good times. Marvel consistently delivers on good-to-great, like they've perfected a math formula, but what the Russo brothers have done here is beyond what I could've imagined this franchise achieving ten or five or even two years ago. If you're expected to tie together 20+ prior films with a giant list of characters, you'll feel bloated & come with plot holes but it still pulls the rest off well. The theatre was at the edge of their seats as this packs a heavy emotional punch throughout while still containing good action & visuals with balanced humour. I'll rate this the same as IW but IW is better. IW smashed what we expect from the MCU. This gave us mostly what we expect from the MCU. Admittedly does MCU better than others. Some parts are too quick, it's funny but doesn't connect quite as much. But it was a thrill ride, didn't feel as long as it was, offered tons of great action and emotional moments. It's just not as daring which makes it feel slightly less special. It does trade in that for a decent exploration of trauma though.

so much in here that the film begins to drag, lacking much action until the mega-clash finale, which occasionally drops into CGI overload. To be short: this movie didn't need to be a full three hours. But Endgame does call back to every point of the last 11 years of movies and sees it's characters off well, if predictably. Despite this predictable ending, the middle was completely unpredictable even if it did run too long. And anytime Captain America fought it was cool

About as good of an ending for this long and inhomogeneous saga as one could have hoped for. The film rewards fans of the franchise and delivers some of its most emotionally resonant moments. There are so many things wrong with this movie it's impossible to put into 500 characters. It's quite the MCU fanfiction ending to a decade long trilogy of 2-hour trailers and lacking payoffs. Infinity War is the only one worth a damn, and this one takes a dump all over Infinity War with some of the laziest problem solving in the MCU to date. There's one action sequence in the first 2 hours, and one absurd action section that makes up the entire last hour. At least it glorifies suicide.

Lumpy series entry/culmination is hampered by some considerable bloat in the first and third hours (nothing is said once that can't be said thrice) but the mid-section riffing on time travel tropes is great fun and warts and all this series has engendered genuine affection for the characters (and actors) on display, giving some of the arbitrary plotting more heft than deserved. As always, Hemsworth is the stand-out, though the much anticipated final battle is a curiously laborious experience.

"I feel the conflict within you." Okay. On a visceral emotional level, I don't think there's an MCU movie (Infinity War included) that is this intense. This GOT to me more than a few times, and I had to fight to keep from giant man-baby blubbering. At the same time there are a LOT of poorly-answered plot points which leave me feeling, to some degree, like this is one of the sloppier MCU entries from a narrative perspective. How much that matters to me is still a matter of some personal debate.

Why doesn't every big crossover movie start with the characters having feels at each other for an hour!? (For shorter movies I'll accept half an hour to 45 minutes.) This was better than I expected after Infinity War, full of meaningful character moments, fun sidequests, and solid resolutions to long-running character arcs. ...that said, it also has a lot of flaws, small and large, and my opinion has gone up and down every time I think about it. This is not perfect movie, and in a vacuum it's not a masterpiece, which is what I save 10's for. It's probably a 7 on it's own to be honest, but to isolate a movie like this from all of the context (not just within the MCU but within the context of popular culture and movies as a whole) would be derelict. This is a moonshot for the medium; the MCU is the Apollo program, ENDGAME is Apollo 11, and goddamn it they landed on the fucking moon and returned home safely. If that's not a 10/10, what is?

As was the case with Infinity War, your mileage here will depend on your investment and enjoyment of the MCU. For the fans, Endgame offers some moments of giddy geekery that justifies the last decade of Marvel films. I've always said these MCU films are more television shows than proper movies. And this one drives it home by feeling like a series finale. It's eerily like the Lost finale: time travel, characters meeting one another in alternate realities, the plot of a big bad coming to fruition, & a great deal of dramatic play between characters. My only complaints are the runtime, uneven genre mashing & lack of any real great zingers. Still, Disney has made a bingeworthy film series, which says something.

I might've had a little better time with Infinity War, but this was a pretty satisfying ending to this phase of the Marvel movies. Much more than in Infinity War, a lot of characters were short-changed, but overall, they did a great job with balancing them all and giving them payoffs. It wasn't as emotional as I thought it might be, but emotions were definitely had. Lots of good character stuff, some good action stuff, and some really nice deep cuts from the MCU up until this point.

I came out a little underwhelmed, honestly. I must stress that I don't think Endgame is a bad movie by any means, it's just the bar set by Infinity War was super high. The pacing and structure of this movie was all over the place. Compared to Infinity War where everything flowed so smoothly, Endgame's writing was far sloppier. I still had a blast and I was never bored despite the lengthy running time. Endgame to me, felt like a really noticeable drop in quality after re-watching Infinity War.

Easily the best of the Avenger series. Opening and closing act are both superbly done. There is the usual tropes and fan service that brings it down a couple levels. Still found it a fitting conclusion that was well paced and rounded. Thor Lebowski was fun.

I find it fascinating that the highest grossing movie of all time was designed purely to work only for those who were heavily invested in the 20 odd movie franchise that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's not necessarily a complaint, and Marvel earned the right to release a fan service blockbuster given the phenomenal pop culture achievement that is the MCU. For fans, aside from some pacing issues, this is a virtually perfect conclusion, but non fans will wonder what the fuss is about.

This is truly a monument to storytelling. It was genuinely successful in wrapping up the entire saga that's led up to this point. It did that in 3 hours that were never rushed, and still felt like it got in pretty much everything it needed to. The trickiest part of this movie was really creating stakes, since it follows 20+ movies where there were never really any. And it did that so successfully that the final action sequence is one that I cared about for a change. Great stuff.

Hats off for the Russo brothers. I cannot fathom have you can make this amount of characters, interactions and storylines feel this organic, natural and entertaining. MCU is by far my favorite superhero franchise and this is the icing on the cake with its integration with previous Marvel films. Just wow!!!

Works well as a closure to lots of Marvel characters and stories, but as a standalone movie it doesnt work that great.

Initial response: everything I expected, for better or worse. RDJ has been my favorite part of the MCU and proves himself again here.

Avengers: Endgame is not the cinematic marvel that Avengers: Infinity War is. However, with the added complexities of time travel and making sure that everything is at an end, Endgame does exactly what it needs to do and is a fitting way to close off the MCU.

I've seen the Alpha and Omega of this series--Iron Man and Endgame--and nothing else. Given my skipping the 20 movies in between, this one still made sense plot-wise (until it didn't--who makes all of the Avengers' machines, why is Spiderman [and esp. all his friends] still in HS after five years gone). The searches for the stones lacked any drama, while the battle sequence was impressively CGI'd. Many people seem to like these men in tights movies. Good for them. I'll spend my time elsewhere.

What is the point of anything if any consequence can be undone with some omnipotent Deus ex machina plot device? If you can go back in time and magically bring back half the world's population you can do anything and nothing has any weight.

Marvel accomplishes the gargantuan task of wrapping up 20 odd stories, and it achieves this feat with exceptional flair, like an olympic gymnast going for that impossible move and sticking the landing perfectly. A triumph for corporate authorship, endgame will probably change the movie industry - for better or worse - in a substantial way. On the other hand, it's basically back to the future 2 with superheroes, which is almost certainly a great idea.

They've largely managed to pull this off. I hate what they've done to Thor but I can forgive most sins. The first hour is brilliantly, and surprisingly, downbeat. The middle is a victory lap around the MCU, and the last hour is an amazing comic book style crossover of epic proportions. I'm not sure we'll see anything like this pulled off cinematically,or logistically IRL for a long long time

Like in 'Avengers: Infinity War', simply getting away with tying everything together so well is impressive. In the first act of their incredibly effective tribute to the MCU, the Russo Brothers show their balls (not literally), and I really liked the way they have chosen to reference many of the previous movies. Also, 'Avengers: Endgame' is (hands down) the Marvel film that I have been most invested in. And, most importantly of all, I had a lot of fun throughout so the three hours flew by.

Im not going to downplay how much I loved this movie, it gave me everything I wanted and more. this movie had me in tears several times. I was elated to watch every minute. there is no scene in this movie that does not have a purpose behind it and that is what is so captivating, the movie may as well be a living organism. I do not think this can ever be topped. infinity war and endgame are the penultimate super hero movies. I would love to see them try to beat this. Such a massive undertaking

After starting with the biggest power move possible, the movie gets terribly unimaginative and ends with my greatest fear. BUT: it does its character arcs very well and overall it works out satisfactory. It concludes more than ten years of movies. That alone is an accomplishment.

Endgame begins considerably slower than IW, allowing it to better contemplate the effects of the Snap and deliver deeper character arcs than any MCU ensemble film has before. The time travel antics are fun and a fitting homage to all that came before, though very convenient for the plot. The end battle feels shorter than I would have liked, and the "Future is Female" shot irked me as being forced and padded with sidekicks. An enjoyable end, that thankfully leaves me less invested in the MCU.

The Big Lebowski (1998) exists in this world meaning Jeff Bridges the actor exists which means Obadiah Stane played by Jeff Bridges in Iron Man (2008) is a bald doppelganger of Jeff Bridges in this universe, this is infinitely more intricate than all this other shit, I'm looking forward to when Jeff Bridges can return as Jeff Bridges. oh and the movie was cool and fun! dipped into demolition porn again but it's cool, it goes large writ small at the end.

Needs a rewatch. A fitting end to this chapter. First hour was pretty bad and needs a lot of suspension of disbelief. Fat Thor was really, really bad and he never suffered much for it. Glad they limited the large scale and extended fisticuffs to a final battle in the end. Filled with references and callbacks that aren't just cheap fan service. Nice twists with Thanos mucking things up. Fav scene: Captain America picking up Thor's Hammer.
