Avant l'hiver

Competent but slightly formulaic drama about an elderly couple drifting apart who begin to suspect each other of infidelity. The performances are decent, if not particularly daring or challenging material for Auteuil and Scott Thomas. They are probably phoning it in a little at times. The mystery element surrounding Bekhti's character makes it a little more compelling; ultimately though this is a middling film which will satisfy for one evening but unlikely to be remembered long after.

Wonderfully made but the lack of pay-off is near criminal

Enjoyable, although it had a familiar feel to it - middle class couple, nice house and life style but something untoward lurking in the background.
