A team of scientists working to raise a sunken Russian nuclear submarine on an ocean platform off the coast of Miami, Florida, unearth an ancient Atlantean relic from the sea floor and bring in an expert to make some sense of it. But while attempting to raise the sub, radioactive leakage from its missles triggers the re-emergence of Atlantis, and the resulting tidal wave destroys the platform and leaves only a small group of survivors. Has one of those fire stunts where you kinda pray it was a fire stunt and not some actor who never showed up again after this movie for some reason

This film crams about 3 or 4 genres together and yells "To hell with the fucking plot!!!" and it dives headfirst into non-stop action. Connelly drives a motorcycle from a scene set at night straight into broad daylight, but who cares when it has this many machine guns, grenades and Molotov cocktails flying everywhere. It's concentrated genre mayhem the way only Italians can make. For all the cheap goofiness, it really has some amazing stunt work. It looks like many people got hurt.

Typical Italian B post-apocalyptic film about Atlantis being raised up at accident by some scientists after which the world turns into a Mad Max II rip off. So don't come into this expecting great writing or top of the bill sfx, but It has plenty of action and a good pace for this to be a blast of fun.

A B-film that gives off an honest impression (seeming to take itself seriously enough to make one wonder if they could actually be serious) - and is admirably pompous in it’s scope that exceeds their reach by miles. The Atlantis-rises-from-the-sea scene might just be the most disrespectfully bad special effect I have seen in a film.

It's basically the Italian rip off of Mad Max only by the time someone translated the Italian script to English it just made absolutely no fuckin' sense. An unlaunched submarine missile causes Atlantis to rise from the ocean floor. This somehow triggers a bunch of Atlanteans, who happen to look like just a bunch of bikers with weapons to crawl out of the woodwork in Miami, wreaking havoc. It's like no one here actually spoke English, but they saw a bunch of English words and said, "PERFECT!"

Don't waste your time on this film unless you have a thing for truly bad films, overloaded with nonsense, randomness and fuck-all film-making. Quite fittingly, I watched it as a VHS rip with Swedish hard-subs.

With all these explosions, huge bodycount, little bit of gore, Mad Max inspired costumes and weird sci-fi plot it should be really fun, but somehow it isn't. I don't really know why.

The best thing about this film is the group of good guys - they're a bunch of pals palling about having a good time, making quips and joking with each other just like a group of good friends do at the pub, except instead of drinking beer and playing pool they are killing mad max style punk bikers, blowing up helicopters and breaking into Atlantis in order to make it return to the bottom of the ocean. Their camaraderie is so infectious you almost want to be repeatedly shot at along with them.

Uninspiring 80s post-apocalypse fare, lacking even so-bad-it's-good entertainment value. Only vaguely interesting elements are the bad guy, who spends the whole movie looking like that bit in American Psycho when Patrick Bateman is wearing some kind of gel facial product, and a surprise appearance by a Robert Palmer girl towards the end. Only other notable thing is the last 20 mins, which draw a remarkable number of parallels with the TV show Lost (and make just as much sense).

Generic early 80's post-apocalyptic z-trash, complete with roving gangs in hilarious costumes.

I’ve seen this at least 3 times and find myself remembering it more fondly than it deserves. Maybe that’s because for a long time it was quite hard to get hold of a copy. It's a ridiculous and quite fun sorta post-apocalyptic action/warriors style film, but surprisingly amateurishly made at times, considering that director Deodato has done some competently directed films. It’s fun to see former Gialli-stars Rassimov and Hilton in the cast. Supported by De Angelis brothers' disco soundtrack.
