genre stars and, curiously, an impish pitch perfect Britt Eckland bring life to an anthology horror which has its moments...severed heads wrapped in plastic drawing breath, foggy gothic locales, intense crazy Herbert Lom....ruined by a bombastic, blaring, obnoxious soundtrack that RUINS every scene and never ever stops

Decent little anthology horror flick framed by a psychiatrist interviewing patients at a loony bin. There's a cool story about a guy who plots with his girlfriend to murder his wife, but the one with Peter Cushing commissioning a suit of a mysterious material was the best one, creating a nicely chilly atmosphere. No gore to speak of, it relies more on a handful of shocking reveals...in fact, it kinda plays out like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

I'd rather watch this over any movie made by "Asylum".

The requisite Killer Doll story has one of the worst looking puppets I've ever seen, and being the final story and the conclusion of the framing story it leaves the film with an anti-climax. Otherwise, I did like the framing story, and the first two stories were good to great and the third draaaaaaaaaaaaagged but Charlotte Rampling was sort of adorable.

Dismembered body parts writhing towards an adulterer... an evil suit commissioned by Peter Cushing... Charlotte Rampling starts seeing things... animatronic dolls prepped for murder... It's a light horror, on the gore, kills, and scares, but it has its moments.

A decent horror anthology that's creepy in parts, but extremely silly in other parts. The best segment is the first one, where the chopped up wife gets her revenge - it's pretty gruesome compared to the other three stories and contains a few make-you-jump moments. It gets a bit flat after that, and the the wraparound story with the psychiatrist is a bit predictable. Overall, it's entertaining but corny - like most British horror of the same period.

It has an interesting concept that's wasted on a very poor script. They don't bother explaining whether anything the patients said was true or not, so we just assume it's all in their heads; did the people that die in their stories actually die, though? I guess it doesn't matter because the plot twist renders all of it pointless. Dr. Starr ends up being this ward dude who had no importance prior, and it feels so reductive.

Interesting movie, not bad if you can get past the obvious villainization of the mentally ill.

This is so bad it's painful. Anthologies usually make good horror films. Another 4-part horror anthology film made this same year, "The House That Dripped Blood", was top-notch. Do not watch this film; go watch that one instead. "Asylum" is a complete waste of time. Even Peter Cushing cannot save this horribly-directed pile of dung.

The first 3 tales here are much better than average which is why the last 25 mins are disappointing. The first 2 stories are unpredictable from moment to moment even if you guess how it'll end. The 3rd film may also be the best story I've seen in any anthology film as it's hard to know where it's even going until you get half way through. Rampling carries it, the best of many great performers. Unfortunately the possessed doll tale feels silly though & the twist is confusing (or at least unlikely

Asylum is another horror anthology from Amicus. What it has going for it is that firstly it has framing story that is pretty compelling in its own right; a doctor who has to interview four different patients in an insane asylum. The three short stories are all equally enjoyable enough to pass the time.

If I had a wife, I would also kill her for Bonnie. Or Britt Ekland.

This was one of those anthologies that started off strong but went downhill with each story.

The Charlotte Rampling and wrap around stories were the best parts. Decent enough anthology movie.

Very suspenseful and expertly handled. The segment with Peter Cushing is my favorite, really my kind of story. But overall it is a great series, a lot of play but does not fall into cheese.

This solid collection of Bloch short stories is his best Amicus anthology, with sharp direction, a fine cast (including Lom at his charmingly intense best), and a genuinely shocking surprise ending.

This film is so uneven. Its wrap-around story is quite good, and this is the first time I've ever said this: I think this horror film needs to be remade.

A weak anthology that doesn't really do justice to the quality of the cast. "Frozen Fear" is the best of the lot, but even that didn't hold my interest as much as I'd have liked. The wraparound story was serviceable but, like everything else in the movie, it nevertheless left me feeling lukewarm.
