Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar

It's alright. I used to love it as a kid. I once showed this movie on my birthday with my friends (I was 10 or something), nobody was interested in it. Oh well, that was just one of my many failed parties

It spends a lot of time trying to look like the comics, but this causes the story to meander a lot and take time before anything really happens. I guess it is not easy to find the balance between cartoon and real life, though at times it felt like they should have avoided the CGI when it touched the characters' face at least, as these were bad

The very definition of an “acquired taste” – the talent is definitely here, with John good fun as the titular Caesar, but it’s just so savagely and relentlessly noisy in terms of most of its other performers and style, especially when Depardieu and Benigni start attempting to out-mug one another. There are some amusing gags spotted here and there, and it’s very attractively filmed, but if you’re not susceptible to this verrrry broad style of European comedy, it may become a little wearying.

This is a decent live-action version of the comics. It's cartoony and never tries to be anything more than mindless entertainment. The only real downside and this is true for every Asterix movie I've seen, is that it goes on for too long and wears out its welcome.

Sure, Gerard Depardieu was born to be Obélix, but what else was there besides a Fassbinder regular as Caesar? This series was never meant to be live action

good for a family movie night!

Better read the comics and stop massing with my childhood memories!

A poor adaptation of the comic, unfunny.

This doesn't really work at all. But it's Asterix, so it isn't entirely bad.

Perhaps it was that i was forced to watch it for french class and answer questions for it, but I found it rather hard to watch, and more than slightly annoying.

Wrong medium.
