Arrowhead

Odd, unfocused sci-fi entry looks cheaply made, and is ineffectually performed (Micallef as the voice of the computer system comes off marginally best, but he is no HAL.) Seems to want to grapple with issues of identity and humanity ala 2001 and MOON, but has the attention span of a fruit fly, jumping from idea to idea but never exploring any one in depth. Opening sequence featuring quite harsh and graphic violence seems at tonal odds with the rest of the film.

Arrowhead had a workable amount of money and tolerable acting, but the failure here is in the writing. This movie has a weak core plot and it's abandoned at every other turn to shallowly pursue another seemingly interesting sci-fi idea. The idea here is a man travels to a planet's moon to find information about a secret prison, then you throw in a alien being that forms a symbiosis with him, a talking computer, time dilation and a rebel military leader and it's hard to tell what's happening.

Despite my love of all things SCI-FI, this was poorly produced. Poor writing & directing subtracts greatly from the enjoyment. Many stiff unconvincing performances. Aleisha Rose was beautiful & did well. Dan Mor was not entirely satisfying. Very poor supporting cast. I particularly disliked the computer voice. The story progression was developed poorly. Scenery lacked post production cleanup. The creatures were not well done. A kernel of good ideas, but with poor execution.
