In this family comedy, Nick (Ice Cube), a smooth operator, is trying to land a date with a young, attractive divorcee, Suzanne (Long). He gallantly offers to drive her children from Portland, Oregon to Vancouver to be reunited with their mom. What Nick doesn't know is that Suzanne's children think that no man is good enough for their mom and will do everything they can to make the trip a nightmare for him. Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride. (Sony)

I hated this movie. I found myself rolling my eyes and yawning and don't recall actually finding anything funny in this horrible film.

Nice try Ice Cube, if that is your real name. But this was no better than your movie about Mars ghosts, or intelligent sharks, or....

This supposed family comedy staring the usually blameless Ice Cube and Nia Long has provoked most critics to write, "Is it over yet?"

The devastating effects of divorce and the need for dedicated dads get fair play here, but the film's treatment of sexuality is as hard to swallow as its slow, silly and illogical story. Sure, there's nothing more explicit than a low-cut dress and some cleavage (as well as a few knowing winks and glances), but Nick's attitude toward women sets the red flags waving. (pluggedin.com)

Horribe movie. Just count how many times the main character screams "hey!". That's what the movie is. He's running after those damn kids and screaming "hey!". Aargh!!!

Are We There Yet? is a date movie that has some cute scenes, a few laughs, but little else to make it very interesting to anybody. I love Nia Long in anything and she helps make this movie more than just mediocre. Ice Cube also does a pretty good job of playing a nice guy. The two kids are, like most child actors, highly annoying mixed with a few redeeming moments. I don't think that I would watch this movie again. It was fine for an afternoon though.

It has a plot to be sure. The motives of the actors are fairly clear if not explicitly stated often. Ice Cube is clearly a stable, normal suburban man who has no history of violence, racism, or misogyny. A good family romp to put on for the kids while you go try and cop a loosey and some old english from the a-rabs down at the bodega with the homies on a wenesday afternoon.

Ice Cube, what happened after "Boyz n the hood", "Friday", and "Three Kings"? You're following the path of Eddie Murphy. Big mistake. You're better than this. You're better than the "XXX" sequel, too.

It's a film so bad that, just like the title quandary asked by anxious children on any road trip, you'll keep asking yourself throughout, "Is it over yet?"
