Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom isn’t bad as nearly as it’s just forgettable, which may be worse in some aspects. James Wan is a great director, but he has never been one to elevate his characters, and with how horrible the screenplay is here, it makes so many of these characters that are already drowned in affects, that much more bland especially within there emotional sequences. Its best attribute remains some of the beautiful action sequences that Wan is known for, but I can’t say this was good.

Pretty disappointing. I actually dug the first movie for what it was; a campy, cheesy, fun callback to 80s actioners. It was self-aware and fun. There are merely glimmers of that here, and the story is a lot worse. The studio interference is pretty obnoxious and evident here. The movie shines the most when it focuses on Arthur and Orm’s relationship, and they’re both capably acted too. The action is still really fun at times I guess. But what happened to character development and a good villain?

Jason Momoa is still great as Aquaman, but this movie fell kind of flat compared to the original. I think reusing the same villain was a mistake, but I also felt like the movie over relied on CGI to the point where some scenes were just a mess and difficult to follow the action. It's clear there was a lot of messing with the edit, probably using CGI in places and reshoots to cover it up, but it still felt really messy. This feels like something I probably won't want to rewatch.

It's not terrible, it's just not anything. 2 hours of film cut to a length by people who don't care and are waiting for the reboot. I like Jason Momoa in general and in this role, but this is a giant nothing.

It is possible to have fun while watching this movie, but it doesn't offer much more than that. Because The Lost Kingdom is a rather confused sequel. Wan's use of horror elements are quite great, but they do not elevate the film. Some action scenes are awesome, some are bad. The CGI is sometimes very good, most of the time it's terrible. The script is definitely not decent either. I'm really glad James Gunn is rebooting DC. I hope he can pull this off. (Cineverse Metrogarden - 12/25/2023)

I can't hate this as James Wan delivers more of the same. He decided to steer into the skid of cartoonishness & although it's not my taste, it seems to have worked well for him & I'm not exactly sure if you should do otherwise with Aquaman. Having said that, this film constantly reminds me that we could have a film built around the traditional comic book Aquaman because Patrick Wilson is essentially playing him here! The ending also satisfied & the screensaver CGI imagery is often beautiful.

Oh wow. Remember when Aquaman was such a hot property that it was going to spawn all kinds of spin-off movies? To be fair this is a cgi spectacular made to sell to kids and international audiences and never aimed to be more than that. It's comparable to Star Wars and Transformers in that the visuals are the whole point of it and it's your own fault if you expected more. But still.

Saw this in UltraAvx w Dolby Atmos w recliner seats. This is the pinnacle of how to see this type of flick imo. Monster screen with booming sound. Some good fight scenes, and the humour was solid. It's still a kids movie with 95% cartoony CGI. To be expected. I'm happy with the 5.8 I'm giving it. Expected it to be a little worse than it was. Pleasantly surprised in spots.

Jason Mamoa’s charisma and amiability are thoroughly squandered here, which is probably the biggest of the film’s many disappointments.

Generic superhero action, but the unserious brotherly bond between Jason Momoa & Patrick Wilson brought it its heart.

This film has some good action scenes but it also has some scenes that drag on. The villain is boring in this movie and it could have used more exciting characters. Overall this movie is disappointing.

"The magic is broken". Nah, it's not that bad. First half is really shitty, though, with a bunch of expository nonsense and uninspired comedy -- did Wan really direct that stuff? Once Arthur teams up with Orm -- and the worldbuilding really starts --, it gets immensely better and actually fun and I even buy the attempts of turning this into a buddy flick. Didn't care much about the villains, but who cares about them. Guess I wanted more of the bloated Lost Kingdom mythology.

Another unremarkable Super Hero flick from DC. The first hour is basically entirely exposition, but it does pick up a little in terms of action and entertainment in the second half. Momoa remains a charming lead, and Patrick Wilson's Orm is passable as well. Otherwise, the film is entirely forgettable.

Vaguely confused looking actors delivering lines in front of green screens and stitched together with editing, reshoots, ADR and a couple hundred million bucks of CGI effects. Aquaman and Orm interplay is pretty amusing tho and is fortunately the main relationship of the film, which salvages it a bit.

It has some fun moments, but not nearly as much as the first Aquaman and, ultimately, it just feels entirely unnecessary.

How does a 200 million USD movie end up with such weak CGI? And writing? And acting? And directing? And so many piss jokes? And not even a proper battle against the main villain ? The DCEU somehow managed in the span of only two movies to make Aquaman fun then to make him uninteresting again. Quite an accomplishment. Not an awful movie, but disappointing given the previous one.

Among the least-mortifying of the recent live-action superhero crop, which is about the faintest praise one can offer. This is still wretchedly dull with a nonsense plot and numbing all-encompassing CGI. Some of the weird creature stuff amused me, but there’s not nearly enough of it. Also, Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman is quietly one of the least-appealing leads in recent blockbuster history.

Jason Momoa is always fun to watch.-- Plot: Cheap and recycled -- CGI: Overload -- Script: Bad -- Cast: Unfortunate to get this script. -- Villain: Sad -- Family Domestic Scenes: Quite amusing and the best part of the movie.

Just add it to the long list of disappointing superhero sequels. Orm is the most interesting character in this and Wilson steps up to deliver a decent performance. Lundgren shouldn't be placed in front of a camera, and Heard appears to have been removed by editing. Mateen's Manta is an uncompelling villain and seems to stick to the direction of "just be aggro". The plot is formulaic and the visual awe from the first film has worn off. It's a watchable mess but utterly unimpactful.

Actually the First one was much way better at this one .. first of all why the F*ck they Use the same Villian again and also the Main Vilian is just only a myth and just posses the old villian of the first Movie ,.. Just Boring .. James Wan did his best again and Jason Momoa did his 'whooo' again .. as A DC fan I have to say that I was very disapointed but at least the Movie is for a Popcorn Movie Night a good choice ..!!!

Almost none of my problems here are Jason Momoa-related. He's given virtually nothing to work with from a screenplay perspective, and aside from a badass fight scene towards the end, the same can be said about the physicality. I audibly booed every time Amber Heard was on the screen. This jumps around wildly at times and isn't holding itself together well, which is a real shame. It's also weird to me that the ending is still playing like this is building a larger narrative when clearly it isn't.

It's no masterpiece and around half the dialogue is exposition, but it has enough action sequences and imagination to entertain.

Good old Aquaman. You still manage to be silly, stupid and charming at the same time by not talking yourself seriously. Next time (if there is one) please don’t make a forgettable copy of the original.
