The story is very unusual and partly awkward. The two main people in the story are Anna, a young girl (played by Hertha Thiele), who is thought of having the ability to heal people mysteriously. Elisabeth, played by Darathea Wieck, is a young - middle aged aristocratic woman, that is disabled and puts all her hopes in meeting Anna and having her disability heal by her. A strange ambivalent relationship develops between the two women, and just one of them survives. (imdb)

Different then Mädchen in Uniform (1931) which both Dorothea Wieck & Hertha Thiele also had the leads. There is little doubt that they were cast together again to capitalize on the intriguing lesbian undertones of Mädchen as they have a special bond here too. In a spiritual way here as Wieck thinks that Thiele has healing powers. This movie has a very heavy and somber storytelling and felt kind of strange. It's not the masterpiece of their previous success together, but it can be intriguing.
