Let's lionize the adultress while giving short shrift to the man (Levin) searching for meaning in his life. Where Tolstoy balances the two narratives, allowing them to comment on one another in a sort of dialectic, this film completely misses the beauty of that give and take, and as a result offers something disfigured and ugly in its place. No thanks.
