I gave it 75 assuming the last five minutes of the movie never happened.

This film is so fucking beautiful. It doesn't have the dark, noir-esque visuals I was expecting from the poster but every frame is so crisp and gorgeous. As for the actual content, it's hit and miss. I probably would have given this a much higher score if the supernatural elements had been kept ambiguous instead of just flat out confirming what Angela is in the middle of the movie. Still, the lead performances were good and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen during the mirror scene.

hardly as heavy as la femme nakita or leon, but besson proves his versatility. angel-a is charming, beautiful, and whimsical. i firmly believe if besson hadn't taken time off from directing to work only on his writing then this movie wouldn't be nearly as sparkling a gem as it is.

Really lovely movie, sometimes romantic but not like a chick flick, sometimes funny but not silly. It's a really good mixture, that leaves you with a good feeling.

Not much of Besson's style, which is partly good. I'm guessing that he ran out of drugs when he was doing end of the plot, since it's bad as most of his movies.

"Besson's first behind-the-camera outing since 1999's The Messenger is as skeletal as his model-turned-leading lady." - Nick Schager

Female blond long-legged angel in black dress and matching panties? Now we are talking business! Besson takes aesthetics of film-noir and themes of a few classic holiday movies and mixes that into something of his own. End result is fun, sexy movie-that-teaches, but it takes one safe path too many; it's not weird enough, not stylish enough, not original enough.

Visuals are good and the chat nice Luc Besson style though overloaded. The point of the movie was pretty quickly clear so the story would work better with lesser running time, i.e. as a short story. Nice ideas in the story, but we are not talking about the layers of Der Himmel über Berlin. The end reflects the connection with the German classic, but destroys a lot the basic idea of the movie.

Besson's long-awaited return to directing is an extremely low-key romance but one that is quite effective and boasting gorgeous black & white cinematography courtesy of Besson's long-time collaborator, Thierry Arbogast. It would be to easy to dismiss this as a romantic comedy or 'Wings of Desire-light'. A real charmer, though its sweet-natured theme means this is not for cynics.

A nice little tale about a pansy dude who has an angel come help him . Kinda a ho-hum sort of flick you've seen a thousand times over.
