Being a bit funnier than expected but not as funny as it should've been, Anchorman 2 is in many ways similar to that time I saw that clown stab another clown.

I've been getting bored with my laugh so I've tried tweaking it a little so as to project believable amusement in whatever it is I'm tossing it at. Once in a while when it's an appropriate time to laugh I'll unintentionally let out a sound reminiscent of a horse, a quintessential Scooby Doo laugh. I've immediately called it out every time. Embarrassed isn't the right word but it's not a good laugh to let out and now noting it when it happens genuinely amuses me. Humor is weird

The colorful and unique characters from the first film are mere shadows made almost invisible from a high-noon sun of the media's corporate greed. Ironically enough, the hackneyed attempts at satire are on the verge of coming full circle enough to point a finger at itself, tongue confidently at rest, equidistant from both cheeks. It would be a lie to say there were no moments where a genuine laugh came out, but the script demanded those be one liners as all else was call back or a trite plot.

This is a barmy film, peopled with all manner of oddball characters. I found it funny, but not consistently so, although I have a feeling it could grow on me with a repeat viewing - same as the first instalment. Some of the one-liners and general wackiness work well, but some elements fall a bit flat on a first viewing, and the pacing perhaps wasn't as tight as it could have been. The battle royale at the end was a blast. Definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of the first.

Most of the film is exactly what you'd expect - funny, but not too funny. Smart and dumb at the same time. The humor is too broad half the time... but then the last 15 minutes come into play, and all bets are off as the film easily tops the first news fight with style. Those last 15 minutes don't make a lick of sense but they are oh, so entertaining.

Anchorman 2 is a pale excuse for a sequel. Everyone here is giving less than their best, and it's just not that surprising. The majority of Will Farrell comedies are feature lengths of what should have been a SNL skit lasting five minutes. I can't say I'm disappointed, either, because I expected it to suck just as much as it did. Too little, too late.

Anchorman 2 is a film I've long anticipated and although it could of been a disaster, I'm relieved to say Its tailor made for Anchorman fans. Im not sure whether it will be as rewatchable as the original, but it's definitely just as quotable and enjoyable. The whole cast is great, the comical cameos are never ending and the one liners are comedy gold. Anchorman has grown to be bigger than anybody ever expected. And this worthy sequel is just as hilarious and outrageous and I absolutely loved it.

I thought this was a great sequel. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues may not nearly as quotable as the first movie, but it's definitely one hilarious movie and almost as funny as the first Anchorman. Totally worth watching if you liked the first movie, and the fight scene was just so great. I couldn't stop laughing at the all of the celebrity cameos.

Whereas Anchorman was the result of shooting hours upon hours of footage and then whittling it down to the funniest 90 minutes, this is the result of shooting hours of footage and then throwing the kitchen sink in - the movie works, somehow, because it never stops throwing out gags and escalating the absurdity to extreme levels. However, this means it also never finds a centre, or rises above an enjoyable mess. Cut out the race and dolphin subplots and we're getting somewhere.

I laughed a lot. That's all that matters at the end of the day. Of course it's not the classic its predecessor grew into, as McKay allows the running time to slip through his fingers. Jokes hit big and then miss just as often, but Anchorman 2 still delivers plenty of gloriously stupid moments.

It's funny but so much of it feels forced. Some of the absurd one-liners are head scratchers making me wonder how they didn't have a better option to choose from. Some of it is a complete retread that ups the excess. Still, it's mostly a fun time and does a good job with lampooning news as a commodity.

I considered the first Anchorman one of the greatest comedies of resent years, so it wasn't without some skepticism I approached this belated rehash. And sure enough, it somewhat lazily backtrack many of the same jokes, that made the original so great, whist oomphing up the crazy. But between the stab at media satire, and the joy of revisiting old friends, it ended up being an enjoyable trip, with some actual laughs here and there.

Overall, it's about as funny as the first one, which is good news for fans of the original. In fact, I would say its sense of humor in the beginning has actually improved slightly, with its intentionally obvious satire and even more outrageous gags. It does decline slightly as the second half feels the need to repeat the old jokes and plot points from the previous film, but the ambitiously star-studded fight scene is at the very least impressive.

Of course it's not as funny as the original, but it's still damn funny. Like all comedy sequels, it has callbacks to gags from the original and is successful in finding new material to cover in those callbacks. Marsden was surprisingly good as Burgundy's foil. They could have cut down the runtime a smidgen, though. I'm also looking forward to the DVD release which should include a second entire film

This film's 119-minute runtime REALLY pushes how far a comedy can go before wearing thin and feeling repetitive. Like most overlong comedies, the script puts too much stock in its basic three-act plot and vacillates between genuine hilarity and boring, facile filler. Fortunately, the funny bits do go a long way, and I loved the skewering of the modern ratings-driven news cycle.

Baker kills it and the Garfield joke was hilarious. Other than that... tired jokes, easy resorting to crassness, Wiig's part was unfulfilling, too much Brick, no chemistry within the four, too focused on pushing weak plot instead of an abundance of gags, basically turned Burgandy into a villian, and the general jab at modern news was more fit for a YouTube short. A real bummer.

The original had a certain charm throughout which I did not find here. I thought the first one was funnier and had more quality, I also liked the humour better. Still, I laughed quite a bit, which counts for something. Much prefer the original but the sequel does have its moments and there are some laughs to be had.

This movie was all over the place, kind of like how I drive. There's a lighthouse, a shark that he protects while totally blind (oh yeah, he goes blind), a car chase, a triumphant return, and the whole renouncing the packaged news thing. In other words, a sequel was made for the sake of making a sequel, had no real story to tell, and added nothing salient to the plot of the original.

If you have really low expectations you might like it. I did and was still disappointed, the whole first half is a write off without any laughs. Then they go for broke with smoking crack, Who's Coming to Dinner ebonics, callbacks with celebrity cameos (obligatory gangfight scene) etc. It came off as lazy, or maybe it's just the novelty of Ferrell being a loud dummy expired years ago. Can't even remember any of his one-liners and it finished an hour ago.

The bad: A recycled rise-fall-redemption plot, flimsy satire, and a painful new-love-interest side plot (Good's bad turn doesn't help). The good: All the ridiculous comedy of the first film is pushed to eleven. The news team still offers loads of great humour (see Ferrell's blind bit), with the unpredictability of the nonsensical Brick in particular coming fast and furious, just like the outrageous plot-gags (see the shark adoption; bat-shit crazy cameo-loaded everything-loaded final brawl).

Got to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by this sequel. I was laughing a lot more than I expected (considering I thought it would be terrible after watching the trailer). It's not as funny and original as the first one and it falls flat more. They shoehorned jokes from the 1st one in and the movie wasn't as quotable as the first. Brick needs less screen time, not more. Won't be a classic like the 1st where you can watch multiple times, but still great and the final act w/cameos is amazing!

The build up kills this movie. You remember Anchorman and how incredibly funny it is, but the sequel doesn't do the original justice. You want more news team and original materials and less callbacks and fan service to the original. I enjoyed watching the movie in an empty theatre, but don't think it will require the multiple viewings of the original.

It's more confident and takes more comedic risks than its predecessor. It also clocks in at a bloated two hours-plus, which means that, for every gag that hits home (and there are several), there's at least one other gag that falls flat on its face. I laughed the hardest at the stuff that seemed tossed off, like Ron shrieking "They're coming in through the back door!" to himself before the newscast. Also, that whole Blind Ron in a Lighthouse business was DEADENING.

There are staggeringly few laughs considering the sheer volume of gags in this dreadful sequel, with the entire team behind the popular first film phoning it in so badly that the result is frankly contemptible. Steve Carell is especially excruciating.

Somehow weirdly hubristic in its silliness. Starts largely enjoyable, with some good ideas and gags, but then, roughly around the ice skating incident, the movie decides that its predecessor's cult following gives it carte blanche to be really, really long and interminable, and I start fighting the urge to check the time. The climactic park brawl is the biggest, runniest turd of any comedic film scene in 2013; nothing but "look how many celebrities we know!" spread across what felt like an hour.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's follow-up to the original 2004 surprise hit is a mixed bag of a sequel. The movie seems to be juggling the usual pitfalls seen in a lot sequels like what to change and what to amplify. The original was dumb and over the top so it's a fine balance when it comes to upping the stupid. The film ends up going to a so dumb it's funny area more and more as it progresses, which is slightly at odds with the overt satire of corporate news media.

A rehash of the first film, but noticeably much longer and not nearly as charming. A character like Brick - sparingly but brilliantly used in the original - is completely ruined by overuse, and that goes for a lot of what made the first Anchorman so much fun. I mean, there are definitely some great jokes here, and the slew of celebrity cameos is impressive (Yeezus just rose again) but it's underwhelming just the same.

It's a very funny film (the whole run near the end when he's blind is just amazing) and does a better job of critiquing the twenty-four hour news cycle than Gone Girl -- between this, the end credits of The Other Guys, and his upcoming serious movie with Steve Carrell, it's been interesting to see Adam McKay become such an enlightened filmmaker.

Based on the 2 hour + version – there’s a lot of clever, funny ideas hiding in here, and Carrell and Wiig are such a beautifully, mordantly dead-pan couple that I’m almost wishing for a spin-off (don’t do it though!), but the best stuff cannot counteract a serious case of saggy bloat, robbing the story of any focus or comic momentum. I’m partial to Ferrell’s aggressive mugging, but given nothing to push against, it just kind of sits there and becomes wearying, especially in the back stretch.

It starts out pretty damn funny! I laughed at all the stupid jokes and Brick Tamland's random interjections. The scene with the RV crashing was hilarious and the humor was very brainlessly random. It just really overstays its welcome and somewhere halfway along the movie the jokes get more stale and overused. This should have never been two hours long, because that's really just reaching for it when it comes to a crazy comedy.

While this sequel may not be quite as quotable, it's still consistently hilarious and thankfully very relevant in its use of TV newscasting history to lash out with real, bona fide satire of the modern 24-hour shareholder-owned spin network monster we've allowed ourselves to be overtaken by, all culminating in a super-colossal, cameo-stuffed melee between anchor teams from more and more specialized cable-TV territories, during which I came very close to dying from laughter.

I liked the commentary on the state of news today, but the film did feel like a bunch of plots strung together with not much of an overall story. Carell is hilarious. Koechner is not.
