Doesn't have the same effect as The Greasy Strangler (the use of known actors takes away from the Tim and Eric feel, as good as everyone is) but it's still bizarre and amusing enough to be a good time.

Errr. 1st take: "Arent we quirky? Arent we clever? Arent we amusing?" Yes, Not really & NO! Trying 2 hard 4 odd & failing 2B funny ? GF quit ¼ in. 1L of wine insufficient but weed may've helped | REVISED opinion: Not TOTALLY without merit. This is DEEPLY weird & 4 a rare taste. Plaza is odder than usual & yet the LEAST odd/awkward person in it! Cast ? me thinking maybe was an Ep of Legion & they were caught in Alt reality. Makes 'Mandy' seem sane. Bizarre surreal deadpan.

One of the strangest movies I've ever seen. I think another reviewer is right in saying this could be a future cult classic. I enjoyed watching this wacky movie unfold. I love Jemaine Clement and Emile Hirsch looked like he was doing his best Jack Black impersonation the whole time. It might have been a little too weird for me, but it was a fun time and I think that's enough.

Wow! Absolutely love the art direction, in fact all of the elements of this film add up to create such a wonderful and unique atmosphere. The acting/casting is so perfect. With this film Jim Hosking has continued to cement a unique style all to his own. You're either going to fall absolutely head over heels in love with this movie, or think its one of the worst things you have ever seen. Sidenote: Emile Hirsch looks exactly like a thinner Jack Black in this movie Bernie.

AEwBLL is the weirdest film about love that I've seen; but with a cast including Plaza, Clement & Berry, how could it not be. Having just watched Berry's Toast of Tinseltown, both projects share an aesthetic seediness, an embrace of oddity and fondness of offbeat names. While I did enjoy certain moments I failed to connect with the film on any meaningful level. I spent more time feeling bemused than amused, and the film relishes in its own absurdity more than I ever did.

I absolutely loved this weird movie and was very excited that one of my favorite songs was featured in the soundtrack. I got up and put the record on halfway through for a dance interlude; movie watching partner was not impressed.

It comes dangerously close to being too #quirky a few times, but in the end, this film justifies itself as a uniquely fun and unpredictable experience with a fantastic cast that all perfectly match the tonally offbeat script. That said, although the film was fun while it was on, it seriously lacks staying power and largely left my mind by the next morning.

I wanted to like this but found almost all of it really irritating

Definitely a cult classic in the making, this won't connect with everyone but for a minority it will be a gem. AEwBLL is a sort of modern day Napoleon Dynamite, with similarly bizarre, stupid but endearing characters navigating through a largely batshit crazy storyline. There are some great comedic performances from the experienced cast, with Clement as Colin, Cherry as Tyrone and Dissanayake as Adjay giving me the most giggles. Humour sometimes falls a little flat, but still enjoyable overall.

Uniquely bizarre comedy takes its surreal deadpan to a batshit absurd degree - so completely inscrutable for the first act and a half that you really just need to hang on for dear life and go with it. Odd in the extreme, and difficult to judge objectively how much of it actually 'works' in the usual sense, but does have some very funny moments and committed performances from a game cast. And it must be said - Luff Lin's performance (a wonderful Robinson) is, shall we say, worth the wait!
