There are costumes (designed by Price's wife, a designer of some renown who designed costumes for "The Sweet Smell of Success" and "We're No Angels"), props and quite a bit of acting by Price. Price is quite hammy here, but it fits the atmosphere and he does justice to Poe's material which is presented unaltered except for some minor edits. If there's a major fault, it's that it opens with the best of the 4 stories, so it gets to be a bit disappointing if never poor.

Visually there isn't much but just listening to it in the dark was great fun.

As good as it could be.

Very enjoyable; almost like your grandfather reading you a scary story before going to bed. Price is somewhat uneven but I wouldn't be surprised if this was comprised entirely by first takes. There are some very long takes here too and his memorization is impeccable. All the tales were good but I especially enjoyed The Cask Of Amontillado as Price seemed the most on the mark here. The Pit and the Pendulum was also especially haunting portrayal and made for the perfect climax.
