Amok

Amok starts amazingly! More topless women you'll see in the rest of the 30's cinema combined! Wonderful exotic settings and creeping atmosphere with a drunken doctor living out in the wild with natives longing to see a white woman. Then one comes, only to ask him to perform an illegal abortion because of his shady reputation. You get a deep sense of filth and sin. This is a such a open story and director Fyodor Otsep doesn't let himself get prohibited from making a very raw movie for it's time!
