American Woman

The title "American Woman" does this film a disservice, in suggesting it is portraying some sort of stereotypical "all American woman". In truth it portrays just 1 womans personal "growth" from immaturity to maturity; the reasons for it, and the hardships en route. Its not a ground breaking story, not a lot happens, (hence the films straplines being all about SM's performance, rather than the story itself), but that doesn't detract from her FANTASTIC performance. Leaves MbtS in its wake!.

Great American drama. Somehow got lost in the shuffle. Sienna Miller delivered an Oscar-worthy performance.

Sienna Miller is a tour-de-force in this movie. I absolutely loved her raw and realistic performances. The story is basically about an ordinary but beautiful woman in a small town whose life is disrupted by her daughter's abduction, along with the ups and downs of her relationships. There is a lot of sadness in the story but it is engaging and convincing. The entire cast is amazing but Sienna really stands out. It was interesting and sometimes brilliant. Highly worthwhile.

It’s so overdramatic and also not really believable. There are huge time leaps and they are awkward and far fetched.
