As I so clearly stated in my thorough review of AP1, nostalgia is a big factor here, and this one is no different, reminiscent of my summers down the Jersey Shore. If this movie had a Springsteen song, game over. So I'll take the rest of my space here to discuss why Fat Lip by Sum 41 is the most perfect song ever written. First off, th

Just a film designed to explore the shenanigans of a crew that had little depth to begin with. Add in the fact that there is zero plot structure other than they are returning to get drunk be douches and you have a recipe for a Mediocre film at best.

Same jokes all over again. I found the first one pretty damn funny so I don't mind seeing this. Sadly it feels the need to "one-up" itself so characters (well... just Jason Biggs really) get into even more absurd situations than before and they're not really much funnier... just more absurd.

I laughed at only one part, and it happened to be a Eugene Levy line. What the hell was this garbage? Why did I take a date to see this in the theater? Is an awkward, adolescent make-out session really worth ten bucks and two hours of this?

Certainly filled with more of the same laughs and gages that the first one brought. Unfortunately, that's the issue. AP2 feels a lot like a remake of the first one, that's maybe a little worse. A lot of the characters are mostly the same one note doofuses, and this also once again, has scenes that drag on way too long to the point it's no longer funny. It embraces it's stupidness, but does so in the most annoying way possible. Has its moments, but I still prefer the original

Top badass moment? Alyson Hannigan being cuter than an entire multiverse populated with just adorable kittens and Labrador puppies. Well it’s basically the same as the first film, but that’s fine as the original was as good as this sort of movie gets. As a MBM film (Made Before Mobiles) it does now feel a bit dated in a fuzzy-warm way and it manages to make offensive things seem, well, not offensive. Ah, the old days, think I’m going soft in my dotage. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

An improvement over Part 1, this still largely lacks a sense of comic rhythm, with too many jokes suffering from contrived and unbelievable set-ups, though an elaborately set-up super glue gag, as well as a well-played "golden showers" bit are genuinely amusing. Cast acquits itself better this time, with Thomas' Nicolas Cage impression standing out, though Hannigan is also a lot of fun (and given a little more to do). A painless but largely unmemorable watch.

Underrated sequel. This could and should have been a shameless cash in follow up to the hugely successful original, but while never hitting the same highs Pie 2 is true to it's lovable cast of characters and to the spirit of its predecessor. If you liked the first, you'll like the second.

After a year apart - attending different schools, meeting different people - the guys rent a beach house and vow to make this the best summer ever. As it turns out, whether that will happen or not has a lot to do with the girls. Between the wild parties, outrageous revelations and yes, a trip to band camp, they discover that times change and people change, but in the end, it's all about sticking together.

American Pie 2 is an unnecessary and aimless sequel to the equally unnecessary original. This one is worse by simple virtue that it didn't do it first. And it has less ambition. There are still some gags that work, but there's no development and not a whole lot of interest going on throughout. It's predictable and sadly kind of boring. The acting from the principle cast has improved, which is a blessing, but that's about the only improvement that the sequel offers us.

American Pie 2 is simply more of the same and it lacks the freshness of its predecessor. There's certainly enjoyment to be had and the characters remain just as fun. But content wise it's difficult to tell this and the first film apart. Sean William Scott, Jason Biggs & Eddie Kaye Thomas have grown into their characters and between them they offer a few laughs. But otherwise the supporting cast offers little. And even more so than the first film, this sequel feels heavily reliant on nude woman.

I watched this recently having not seen it since I was 12. When I was 12 it wasn't funny as such, but it was something to watch with a bit of taboo around it. It's still not funny. The characters are largely unlikable and the film feels as if it was written by a formula - down to the soundtrack and the pacing of funny moments to "serious" moments. Fucking awful!

While the humour is still incredibly low-brow, personally I found it much more entertaining than the original with some genuinely funny segments. Throwing the usual bunch of characters into even more insane and surreal situations seems to throw up more possibilities than the original, even though concept is still absurdly limited to the teen movie formula. Although it still restricts to the disgust of original still has plenty of shocks, the laughs partly make up for it. Best of the series.
