I actually like the first American Pie. Its humor is stemmed in accurate (if exaggerated) portrayals of awkward high-schoolers, and it doesn't go over-the-top with its raunchiness, unlike the sequels, which devolve into pure slapstick and gross-out humor. I can't think of another movie that nailed the high school demographic so well, at least not in my generation.

American Pie is a refreshing slice of good humor in a low budget decade. The combination of Jim, Oz, Finch, and Kevin really remind me of my group of friends in high school. This movie is a rewind back to high school. Even though some of the scenes may be a little exaggerated, American Pie describes what highschool is in a nutshell. With some clever one liners and funny/awkward scenes, it captures the essence of high school in its entirety.

Although there are a few moments of immature and excessive childish humour which do hit the mark, underneath it's simply a slightly more daring edition of the usual typically boring teen movie fare. The characters are the usual idiotic bunch, all of whom seem to represent the kinds of high school teens they are scripted to represent quite well. There's nothing else nice to say about it past that however, it's only cheap corny trash for the masses. Underneath the shocks, pretty damn dull.

I'm not embarrassed to say that the whole series is one of my guilty pleasures. It's just the right amount of nostalgia for me to completely immerse myself and forget the misery that is my life. 16 hours a day mining mercury and asbestos will to that to a man. Still, I have this to keep me alive, and the knowledge that my life's work will forever help mankind and will, in no way, kill anyone.

Has held up well. Its mix of the sweet and the raunchy and its attention to the characters make this one of the best sex comedies ('Fast Times at Ridgemont High' is the only one which gets top marks in my book, though).

American Pie has a few funny moments, mostly coming through misunderstandings and awkward talks between father and son. Outside of that? It's predictable, frequently isn't funny, and has bad acting. Sure, it's kind of raunchy, and if you're under the age of 14, it might push some boundaries -- and make you uncomfortable (and laugh) as a result -- but if you could actually see it alone at a cinema, it's not likely going to do much for you.

The late-90s were a different time. We watched a dude hooked up a hidden camera to watch a girl strip, broadcast it to his friends, and we were cool with it. Also, as someone who was using 56K at the time, there was no way I'd be able to stream video. I could hardly get a song from Napster in under an hour.

Inane and at times ugly comedy is at least compassionate to its characters as they struggle towards adulthood, but the overwritten screenplay, (compounded by a cast that SOCKS. HOME. EVERY. JOKE.) makes it a tough slog; an unexpected attack of explosive diarrhea can never not be funny, but otherwise the movie's obsession with overtly grotesque and exaggerated sexual humour fails to find footing or landing. Inexplicable why Levy's embarrassingly hammy performance has the following it does.

Not bad sex-comedy. Some jokes are not so good but there was a long hilarious webcam-bed scene that I found awesome. E. Levy as a father was a sort of sex-teacher. Here he had a good role, although I do not like him as an actor.

This is how you make a good teen flick. Funny, crude and a good heart as well. The cast really get into their roles which makes the rather silly plot lines quite believable. Levy is fucking hilarious as the somewhat odd but relate-able dad.

I somehow still get nostalgic when I think about it; I really enjoyed it as an adolescent and I somehow still do. Jim and Finch are legendary, and Nadia was one of the first topless women to appear on my computer screen. In fact I still know so many quotes by heart it even becomes embarrassing. It's a classic in the genre. Not really high culture, but exactly what you expect it to be.

The only reason I am giving this a 70 is because it holds a little nostalgic value. I did like this one better than the second but I liked the third one the best. American Pie is a movie for teenagers and most other people are not going to find it funny. It is not as entertaining now days.

A great high-school comedy for a new generation, had some truly hilarious moments, and is a modern classic. The performances were all pitch perfect, and as a teenage boy on it's release I could not have enjoyed it much more.

I have to admit I just adore this series. The cast is fantastic with special shout outs to Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge, but Biggs and SWS have never been better in their careers. It's a teen sex comedy, so there's no need to judge it on any more than it's own terms and in that sense American Pie hits the spot like a flute in the pussy.
