The re-enactment of Hosea's story, complemented by Elijah Alexander's inspired and anguished acting, is the real gem here. If the whole movie was set in Israel 730 years before Christ it would have been infinitely better. Whereas now the film's half taking place in our present day is at best cringe, trying to and appeasing to the modern zeitgeist of consumerism, egotism, teenage modern self-serving individualism and angst, feminine pastors and leadership. I'm overly critical, it's not that bad.
