Almost Human

A two-bit hood in Milan plots to kidnap the daughter of a rich industrialist for a 500 million lira ransom, but his plan goes off the rails and he ends up causing a massacre. It's your standard Italian crime film, but Tomas Milian is so sleazy and animated with his performance that it maintained my interest the whole way. Henry Silva, playing the cop, has one of the oddest shaped heads I've ever seen.

Crazy unredeemable villain and a commentary on the justice system. I enjoy this type of black and white crime popcorn film. Fav scene: it was a pretty strong scene when he shot the couple tied up on the chandelier. Up to that point you're almost dismissive of Milian's character as someone who talks a big game.

A most enjoyable Italian crime caper. Driven by a fine central performance by Milian, playing a complete bastard, this has much to commend it. The fine direction, score and dialogue elevate this above the normal Eurocrime fare, not many punches are pulled, and the ending is bleakly satisfying. Henry Silva is, as usual, worth watching; his stony features catching the eye in every scene he appears in. A violent, pleasingly sleazy slice of fun.

Full on nihilism carried out mostly by the over to top script and an awesome performance by Tomas Milian. He's such a sleazebag here, you have to see it to believe it. After the first half with killings and more killings it manages to focus on the detective's work quite well which prevents the movie from falling over it's own premise and becoming too caricatural. For fans of Italian crime movies in general and for those who want something dirty after seeing too many festival films.

An poliziotteschi that stands out from the crowd, cause it don't beat around the bush about depicting how absolutely despicable its criminal protagonist is.

Most poliziotteschi I've seen have focused on the fascism at play within the police force but this puts its focus on an irredeemable criminal. The result is somewhere between Scarface and Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. I wouldn't exactly call this a fun watch but I'm warped enough to have had fun watching it.

Por enquanto é o melhor filme do Lenzi que já vi, conheço muito mais de seu cinema de horror do que seu poliziotteschi, mas esse não deve nada aos melhores do gênero, especialmente pelo construção de Tomas Milian de uma personagem tão vil, embora o final tenha me desagradado deveras pelo seu conteúdo moralista.
