Like most giallos, logic and narrative coherence definitely take a backseat to style here - in the end, I appreciate that they bothered to provide an explanation at all. It's all VERY '70s Eurohorror in its approach, especially the almost comically trippy coven scenes, but if that's what you're looking for, this movie basically delivers.

Don't start this one lying down. Full wtf imagery on entry. Does the Rosemary's Baby thing (as Pickle_Man cleverly noted) then calms down a bit too much before the twists can turn and twist into turns. Well directed and acted, delivering exactly what I came for.

Sort of like a sleazy low-rent Rosemary's Baby. The satanic cult scenes are awesome. The rest of it is good, but a bit repetitive. Sort of like a low-rent Rosemary's Baby.

Surprisingly enjoyable. I'd be surprised if the recent retro-style The Love Witch wasn't significantly influenced by films like this. Edwige Fenech is appealing and convincing in the lead role, and the cast is rounded out with decent characters; Rassimov brought some fine menace to his role. It is nicely filmed and has some style which never quite lurches fully into camp. It also largely makes sense, which is a bonus for this type of film, and fans of stabbings and nudity won't be disappointed.

I really liked some parts of this movie, but other parts were pretty lame, especially towards the end. Not nearly as good as The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh was.

Like ROSEMARY’S BABY tripping on acid, this is a bizarre, downright crazy Giallo riff on the Polanski film, that is beautifully crafted and, for genre requirements, stunningly performed (what madhouse did Rassimov emerge from?) It would be unkind to question the logic of certain story points, and the build up is arguably far more compelling than the payoff, with a noticeable lull in the third act, but it’s still great fun if you like this sort of thing (guilty!)

Fenech's wondrous performance somehow overcomes the film's (not so subtle) misogyny -- last lines of dialogue are just terrible --, but it's kinda impossible not to fall for Martino's vivid depiction of mental breakdown. So many remarkable scenes here, with the camera moving like a ghost behind colorful curtains and lamps: Mary's self-inflicted death through Jane's hands in the satanic cult, the evidently brilliant finale, with Jane dreaming of what's about to happen and later trying to stop it.

This is absolutely wild, as convoluted as movies get, even by giallo standards, and just a great deal of fun. I loved the atmospheric vibes, the score, and Fenech just has a perfect look for giallo. A lot of the dream sequences are really inventively shot. If you don't worry too much about following the plot here you should enjoy this one.

This is a really odd, but enjoyable giallo. If you like your giallos to be murder mysteries, this one isn't for you. If you like them wild and stylish, then it certainly is. I sort of split the difference. This is a gorgeous film with some really wild imagery and a truly wonderful score from Bruno Nicolai, but my patience kind of runs out with it in the last act.

The scenes with the coven are top notch and the zeniths of the movie. Also good are the mysterious scenes, which are shot and edited frantically to convey well the idea of the protagonist losing her grip on reality. But frequently after a good mystery scene it loses momentum in a repetitive dramatic scene. It's also a movie in which I multiple times thought that it ended but went on even further. But it sure does have a lot of style and mood that stays with me.

There's a lot to like about this, from the score to the cult element to the very sympathetic heroine &, perhaps most of all, the almost noir-esque mystery aspect, but there's also plenty of questionable elements in the mix. The final twist is downright silly & taints everything that came before it, & the story loses its way quite a bit during the third act. The ending felt a bit drawn out. Not a particularly memorable giallo, but a serviceable one that has a lot of neat ideas.
