Acting as crackling as stale oyster crackers caught between the mouldering cushions on a junkyard sofa, a screenplay as deftly drawn up as a letter to Dear Abby scrawled in cornflower crayon, and a third-act twist as tangled as a piece of overcooked spaghetti. UN-SPOILER: All the boys love Mandy Lane because she's...wait for it...hot.

This movie is garbage. The characters are trite pieces of garbage. The plot is lame, predictable and slow. If you want to see teenagers getting killed somewhere out in the sticks go rent Evil Dead or the Hole instead of this crap.

Nobody appears to have a personality, especially Mandy Lane, so the only real way to assess the characters is in terms of how hot they are and how rapey they are, which is a pretty good measuring scale for this movie imo. The hotter you are (ie, are you a female?) the more likely you're gonna be raped. The rapier you are (ie, are you a male?) the more likely you're gonna rape. OR SO YOU THINK??? What if the hot one is the one that's gonna rape everyone? DID YOU THINK OF THAT? Plot twist, folks.

An absolutely terrible movie with bad writing and terrible plot. After a few hours of watching this, I still have no idea why this all happened, and to me, that is a very bad thing. What a piece of shit.

Certainly an interesting take on the slasher genre, although it hasn't exactly got a lot going for it beyond its look. Bland characters, lame deaths, terrible dialogue - but it all somehow kind of works. It'll keep you awake for 90 minutes, anyway.

Pretty well done horror flick, though the script is not that special. Well acted, interestingly directed and edited, and though the script follows pretty usual path, it adds on a way quite much additional material which I liked a lot. Camera really loves Mandy Lane, but in the end something was still missing to rise the story even more higher.

This movie sat on the studio shelves unreleased for years. Not sure why - it's a nice throwback to '70s slasher films - it even looks so much like one that I didn't realize it was set in modern times until someone used a cell phone. It doesn't revolutionize anything at all about the "dumb kids at the lake" genre, but what it does do, it does well enough.

Appreciable throw-back to the melodramatically stylised horny teen slashers of the 80s (and missing the cruelty that marred many a noughties entry) – all the standard cliches are here, but given a shaking and spruce up by Levine; at times a little too derivative that you start wondering why you wouldn’t throw on a genuine 80s slasher and be done with it, but it’s still effective enough within its specific wheelhouse, with Heard having a good time as the titular heroine(?).

It's not a great movie, but it's kind of a great idea, a slasher by way of the Columbine killers. The slasher elements of it, unfortunately, aren't anything to write home about. Great soundtrack, at least.

It boggles the mind that people read this script and deemed it worthy of filming in 2000 and something, invested time and money in it and then had the gall to release it. No stylish photography and ironic soundtrack can mask the fact that this film had no reason to be.

Her motivation totally confused me. I guess I missed something, or maybe the writing or Amber Heard's acting. I figured out all the twists earlier on, so that was no problem, but it didn't explain why and how everything turned out the way it was (especially the character's motivation), and it made me really frustrated around the ending.

I really couldn't give two shits about Amber Heard, but I can't say I really hate her here either. She was fine, and the film overall is fine. It was a bit conventional, but some of the shots are reminiscent of older horror flicks, and the low budget, typical "getaway gone wrong" trope was played on heavily here, and it was done well, if a bit predictable. Really I didn't expect much, and I guess I'm kinda left content. It's completely disposable, but it's not a bad time waster.

Anybody who's seen a handful of horror movies before will see the first twist coming no problem. As for the second, it's a bit less predictable but also makes even less sense. There are a lot of interesting ideas here, but nothing really comes together the way it should & the solid performances just aren't enough to carry the haphazard plotting & pretty sketchy dialogue- not to mention the really uncomfortable pervy vibe surrounding the female leads throughout. Lot of potential, shaky execution.

I love this film. The songs are good. I like the overall photography, like the slow-mo pool scene, and the group fooling around during the roadtrip. There is the usual dumb-dumbs with the victims, and some things were left explained (the latter is fine with me, you don't see old slasher/horror films explaining aggressor's background story, do you?) All in all, the film succeeded in building up a feel-good atmosphere before mowing down everyone mercilessly. Top it with a twist, and boom!

Amanda Heard is super hot....Yep....That's about as much as I can give you for this movie. I don't know if knowing more about the of the logistics "surprise" ending (NOT A SURPRISE AT ALL) would have made me like this movie more but I'm guessing; No. Hey!! I know why this movie was delay for 6 fucking yrs. It was terrible. Hurrah!

I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either. I seriously disliked the cinematography - it was flat and washed out and ugly. And there were all these pretentious ‘artsy' shots, like unnecessary slow motion and mini montages - it was awful. I liked the big twist, even though I saw it coming all along. The story and how it all came together didn't make much sense though. The dialogue was pretty terrible, and I didn't really care for any of the performances.

Much like Herzog's Nosferatu (no similarities outside this one thing), it's a horror movie that feels like it was made by someone who's never seen a horror movie in his whole life and gets to make it all up again. It's bloody, believable and absolutely beautiful.

This is just yet another teenage slasher flick that we have seen many times before. You don't care about any of the characters so when they die you think so what don't care. The so called twist at the end was so damn predictable that you see it coming pretty much from the start. It brings nothing new to the genre. Best to avoid as at the end you really feel like you have wasted an hour and a half of your life

The film sort of has that cool old '70s slasher feel to it, which makes it a refreshing change from the crappy remakes of cool old '70s slashers that the audiences have been bombarded with lately. There's lots of nice little scenes that flesh out the characters and make them feel realer than your average teen horror cannon fodder. Still I find the story pretty forgettable as a whole, there's nothing particularly memorable in the movie that sticks with you after the credits roll.

A bunch of horny teens go to the countryside to party and then said teens start dying. The initial take was interesting but the big twist in the ending was just laughable and frustrating. The characters are bland and while some of the shots are beautiful, the movie just does not deliver anything in the end.

There's a lot of unique moments among a lot of borrowed moments, but it all works together to present that old school atmosphere a-la "The Last House on the Left" and other B-movies of the 70s. Don't go in expecting a blood bath extravaganza; "Mandy Lane" is a subtle, yet terrifying movie that is more connected with its roots than with making its audience sick.

A nice, little meditation on the silliness of men's libidos by way of the slasher subgenre, which would have benefited from more focus.
