Stagy and preachy, workmanlike direction, but the Arthur Miller dialogue is effective and the performances--particularly Robinson and Lancaster--are fine.

Robinson is good, but I wasn't crazy about Lancaster in this. Anyway, I liked the play better when I saw it on Broadway in 2008, but what can you do?

Quick pacing and really strong performances but its too heavy handed and too "black & white" Joe's opinion goes from one extreme to another without the struggle and that lessens the power of the story more than anything.

The self-justification of a powerful character versus the truth makes for a compelling drama. Didn't think "All My Sons" could bring me into the story, but it did, and I enjoyed it.

Arthur Miller conceived this idearidden melodrama, and Irving Reis directed it. Surprisingly, it does work up some energy, but by then you have to be a little saintly to care.

Interesting Edward G. Robinson vehicle which psychologically builds up the emotions to a slow gradual peak. Burt Lancaster plays the key role as his son, finding out his father did someone wrong during the war and tensions escalate from that. Perhaps more smaller peaks through-out would have helped better, but you could still feel something lurking. It's a good one.
