Me: I watched All My Friends Hate Me. My Friends: How was it? Me: Interesting. I didn't immediately get the tone and then later on I didn't either. Not a bad watch but not particularly enjoyable either. My Friends: What was it about? Me: Let's not get caught up in technicalities now, ok.

You could basically describe the movie as "anxiety porn." It simulates so many of the worst kinds of social anxiety, which is probably the whole reason you see people labeling it under "horror." Just like a horror movie throws you into a terrifying situation that you know is ultimately not real, this movie does the same with tense social interactions. That said, I was laughing continuously through the final couple scenes.

The anxiety that it conveys can be felt throughout the entire film, that was well done. I don't hate the fact it didn't have a very classic finale or payoff, kept the "weird" theme going.

All My Friends Hate Me excels at setting a tense atmosphere as it presents a cinematic interpretation of social anxiety. Using recognisable characters that are purposefully obnoxious and a familiar backdrop, the film ebbs and flows with the main character's interpretation of events. The cast deliver strong performances all round, particularly Stourton, Demri-Burns and Clive, which makes the film work. The humour is distinct, the plot is limited and mental heath issues are glossed-over.

Didn't quite come together for me, but I did enjoy the portrayal of social awkwardness drifting into paranoia.

"All My Friends Hate Me" is a daring and refreshing comedy that is well worth watching. It offers a unique take on the British comedy wave of the 90s and 2000s, with strong performances and an expertly crafted tone. While it may not be for everyone, those who appreciate cringe-inducing humor and a willingness to push the boundaries of comedy will find much to enjoy.

Despite feeling semi repetitive it was so effectively unnerving and I kinda figured it all out halfway through and appreciated the overall meaning of the film.

Gaylord should do straight up horror, because he knows how to set up tension in the tiniest interactions between characters. It's pretty neat, although the theme isn't explored beyond a big reveal that left lots to desire.

A decent comedy that is unsettling both and entertaining but where the hell was the horror here?? Who decides these tags?

Disappointed. I barely laughed and was there horror? I've noticed that I love a great horror comedy, but this ain't it. I don't despise it because there are things I like. It did have a couple good lines, some decent usage of music, and the mystery kept me intrigued enough that I wasn't bored. It went in some decent directions here and there, subverting an expectation or two. But after the reveal, after all was said and done, I was like "Okay cool" then I moved on.
