I wanted to get away from the current torrent of remakes and reboots and retreads and retellings, so I chose this unaware of what it was about. This is how you jinx yourself.

Kirsten Dunst is the only sign of life in this otherwise soul-dead movie.

Thought that it built up really well to a certain point and then lost its way. It was so tightly edited and made, and then I just started wondering what the hell is going on? It was at this point that the movie lost like 20 points for me. It's sad really because Gosling did a great job, and I even liked Kirsten Dunst.

Phew good thing he got another chance to tell this, Jarecki is almost atrocious at doing movie movies and not top notch documentaries your parents wont stop hooting about weeks later. Okay bye-bye

I think this script was forced to be vague about everything--relationships, movtives, murderer--because the producers didn't want to be sued, and writers Hinchey and Smerling are not up to the challenge. Gosling and Langella try, but their characters are murky, their parts poorly written. Fortunately for Dunst, her character arc is simple and tragic, and she delivers a memorable, touching performance. Jarecki's direction is a mess: confused, poorly paced, lacking in memorable moments.

Huge piece of shit. Jarecki has no idea what he's doing or what kind of story this is supposed to be. The stupid text based ending was really unsatisfying and just makes you feel like you wasted 100 minutes of your life (you did). If Kirsten Dunst didn't show her glorious rack it could be a 0 for me.

The ending is one of the most laughable things ever, but Kirsten Dunst shows her wonderful breasts and that I cannot fault.

A good character portrayal from Gosling. After reading some other reviews, it seems I enjoyed this one a bit more than the majority, but still nothing fantastic.

Thought it lacked good screenwriting and pacing. The story starts off strong but then evaporates into nomansland and it's impossible to give a shit. Jerky polaroid images of a childhood; really?? Still somewhat enjoyable though for the single reason that Ryan Gosling is a good actor and it's always a joy to see him perform.

Not bad, but serious pacing issues keep it from being a truly engaging drama. The summary on Criticker is wrong, but I think I would prefer that version to the real movie :)

A real missed opportunity because this is such a powerful story...it just didn't translate to the screen all that well. Definitely nowhere near the greatness of Jarecki's freshman film, Capturing the Friedmans.

Brilliant performances by the two leads. Gosling is so creepy and unhinged, there some great stylistic flourishes, the story concept is interesting and the acts of violence and aggression are brutal, especially the moment where David Marks snaps and drags Katie Marks by the hair out of the party. But, I found this to be quite half-baked at times. We don't get into the psychology of the characters too much, and neither do we get much detail of the actual case. Still mostly a solid film though.

I kept rooting for this movie to turn into something good, but it just never could. As soon as we saw her smoking, we knew the blow was soon to show. The cringe level obvious one for one similes and unimpressive double entendres ended up being the straws that broke my back. Her inability to leave and his to let her was comically poorly portrayed. The acting was on point, but the parts and bits were meh. It was like a clever dimwit made this movie.

The disturbing story unwinds patiently, though not without stumble, and despite all its twists and turns it remains largely focused and engaging. Ryan Gosling gives a terribly subtle performance unfortunately undermined by his poor makeup artist.

Failure to launch. While the opening act of the love story is very sweet and promising, the rest of the movie stinks. Ryan Gosling's character's transition from dreamer to mean, reclusive mob enforcer is completely unbelievable. The rest of the film crumbles around him, fast. The last half makes little sense and is barely watchable.

I was curious to see this after watching The Jinx. This movie covers the main events and theories that are also covered in The Jinx, with a few small changes. The structure of Robert Durst's life certainly lends itself more to a series than a movie. Ryan Gosling is fine, but no one can be as legitimately creepy as the real Durst. It's a decent film, but it's hard not to compare it to The Jinx, where it becomes far weaker.

I was so bored after 12 minutes of this tripe that I came to criticker to read some reviews to work out why Roger Ebert gave this such a favourable review and I differed so much in my opinion. Turns out plenty of people are bored to tears, but they all say it starts out strong. Christ, if the bit that bored the hell out me is the strong part there's no point going on. Of course once I heard Dunst's boobs were on show I skipped ahead to see them then switched off.

All Good Things is based on shocking real life events but the transition to film isn't entirely successful. Initially this film looked promising and it opens strongly and swiftly. But it starts to lose momentum mid way through and the pacing starts to tire. Which is a shame because Ryan Gosling impresses as per and it's not often that I enjoy Kirsten Dunst who is impressive here also. You just have to wonder how a true story with no conclusion got the green light to be adapted into a film.

My quest to watch all the Ryan Gosling movies has taken me to some dark places. Places that scare me, not because it was a scary movie, but because I had him so high on a pedestal. This movie is a bore.

I thought it was better than it gets credit for. It certainly fell apart at the end, but I was still mostly engaged with it. It's the sort of paint-by-numbers thriller that I can safely recommend to my parents, but one you could just as easily pass on

Not a great movie by any means. Not a bad one either. Dunst was great, Gosling was strong here as well - not even close to his best roles, however. The film faltered many times but Dunst usually was there to bring things back into focus (for the first half.)

David Marks is truly effed up if the details of this story are anything to go by. Interesting but I think they should have focused more on his twisted state..or maybe tied it closer to the actual events? Worth a look.

With little care for any characters, the eerie plot seems more hollow than thrilling. Gosling's character development was hardly explored. And this True story was too ambiguous to leave any sort of impression.

The script for All Good Things becomes almost visible, via short, sharp, plot enhancing scenes. Trying desperately to sneak past the viewer casually, but invariably they end up awkward and contextless. Goslings character all but disappears half way into the film, about the same time the screenplay begins heavily implying the the Marks' had their way with McCorkmack. These suggestions arise in either blatant scene choices and dialogue or in more subtle symbolism.

This story is inspired by true events, and boy must fiction writers be truly inspired by this story. It is so surreal, that it is hard to comprehend that this actually could have happened. With that said, the actual movie doesnt hit a home run. It never slows down to make you fully understand Goslings character, but instead tries to be a full blown thriller. Decent performances by all three leads, but this could have been great had it just focused more on David Marks and his demons!
