Aligarh

Important pro-gay film from India taking place during the brief time it was not criminal to be homosexual in the country. Very respectable film, but some of the time feels too much like a minor movie. Moves slow and sort of tries to capture an ambiance that's not really all there. But it's a warm, simplistic tale of injustice where the human element is most beautiful part of the film.

This film has a very important human interest story to share and succeeds pretty well in it, but I felt that the movie was not engaging enough, at least at some points. Once the court case starts, the pace of the movie slows down a lot which further slides down to being sluggish in due course. Credit to the actors for giving good performances. Also, the small moments which we encounter regularly in our daily lives are portrayed with a subtle comical tinge.
