Forgotten take on Carroll by McLeod, best known for his work with The Marx Brothers. Although it probably served as a touchstone, it's not as good as Disney's animated film, but it's more faithful to its source, and it's a damn sight better than Burton's bowel movement. The sets, costumes, makeup and photographic effects are all very impressive for their time, and they have endured due to their artistry. Henry is charming as Alice, and there are some genuine moments of magic and whimsy.

Charmless, wooden version, with Paramount's most famous stars barely recognizable-and then only by their voices, since they appear in huge false heads. And though it's fun to recognize them that way, those voices don't do much for the Lewis Carroll lines. The film was lavishly produced, with great care given to the sets and costumes and makeup, but the spirit is missing.

Paramounts version of Alice in Wonderland. And they try the MGM trick of making it an all-star special. But it's a massive fail on so many levels. What's the point of having all these celebrities when they are under big costumes totally unrecognizable?! But even with it's faults, I did enjoy it. There was lots of little inputs from everyone at the studio from special effects to animation. And you'll never see a weirder Cary Grant performance then him as the Mock Turtle.

Weird, but fun. My faves: W.C. Fields as Humpty-Dumpty, Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle, Edward Everett Horton as the Mad Hatter, Edna May Oliver as the Red Queen and Gary Cooper as the ancient--and very sad--White Knight.
