Alex of Venice

Solid indie movie that feels like an episode of Six Feet Under or something. It's not deep, it's not beautiful apart from the lead actress, there's not much style to speak of. But there's the talent of ME Winstead who always seems to be able to bring a real human being on the screen and is always captivating. It's just never boring if she's on screen.

Very solid filmmaking, but nothing more at all.

I'm rating it 66 which means I don't recommend it. It's not bad, especially the actress playing the protagonist does a great job. But apart from a few parts the film really doesn't stand for anything, doesn't mean much, leaves nothing to think about for the average and above person. If you want something in this genre but a bit better perhaps try Cake (2014) instead, it's not super but that film is better in most aspects to this one.

Directionless, boring and pointless.

A familiar movie, but one that's been given strong direction, good acting, and the potential to resonate with its audience. Predictable and not as entertaining as one might hope, but it's a good enough film.
