My guilty pleasure Disney DTV sequel. Having Robin Williams back helps a LOT, and it looks like they actually had a budget this time. Certainly not at the level of the first movie, but it goes down smoother than it could have.

Pretty decent as far as the end of a trilogy, but this is coming from a guy who thought that Aladdin was the only Disney movie that warranted a sequel. I was waiting for the guy at the beginning of the first film to finish his song, and he finally gets around to doing it at the end of this movie, so it's like these sequels were planned. Good enough for me.

Though it's slightly better than The Return of Jafar, Aladdin and the King of Thieves is nevertheless a disappointing and ultimately pointless sequel that's elevated by the return of Robin Williams.

Doesn't match the first movie, of course, but it's definitely no Return of Jafar. Robin Williams is back as the genie, which is a big help, and the story is entertaining. I bet if it wasn't for the second movie, this one could have been a full-on theatrical sequel. They might've gotten a higher budget and been able to torque up a few songs and other sub-par story elements, and had something that might have stood up to the original. Still worth watching if you REALLY like the first one.

Exactly analogous to 'Pirates of the Caribbean 3' in terms of genre and trilogy, if you think about it long enough.

Not as good as the first, but quite superior to "The Return of Jafar". The humor flows better and the story is less by-the-numbers, though that is not the real reason to watch this one. That honor goes to Robin Williams who returns as the voice of the Genie.

When I was a kid I loved the Aladdin movies and one time I took this movie to school on one of the last days (usually they were movie days) and everyone thought it was funny and I felt cool.

This is another one of those Disney movies that I -- in this case for no good reason -- have seen probably dozens of times. It's not terrible, but it's a pale imitation of the original Aladdin, both in terms of animation and everything else. And I don't even like Aladdin all that much.

It’s fine. I actually loved the animated series when I was young & impressionable. Gotta love some 90s orientalism.

Pretty much same song, third verse – benefits somewhat from the return of Williams, though the plot awkwardly keeps the Genie out of action for the bulk of the second act; like the previous chapter, there are some technical deficiencies in the animation and characterisations that mark this as something of a cheapie cash-grab, and the return-to-your-roots story is as old as the hills at this point. Serviceable enough as a DTV knock-off, but not particularly inspired.

It's better than the Return of Jafar, but not as good as the original. Given that this was a direct to video sequel it's better than you might expect. The story is fairly interesting, but I felt like it was a little forced and that things would have turned out differently if Genie went with Aladdin to find his father instead of Iago. Robin Williams being back as Genie though really lifts this movie up quite a bit. It's an okay ending to the story of Aladdin.

You expect a lot, with Aladdin getting married and finding his father and Robin Williams returning (whose jokes and impressions are the only thing that keeps this somewhat watchable) but prepare to be disappointed by the poor quality and songs.

It is pretty lazy stuff; plot and animationwise. Most probably it suffered from low budget and it is hard to do something inspired with these sequels. 40 thieves was a good choice from the available stories and the thief designs were not that bad actually. It is watchable but it is not something to cry over.
