I can’t tell if it’s deliberately ugly as a stylistic choice or if this director is just incompetent

Mezzo anxiety crisis, mezzo egotrip, but somewhat always rewarding in the way Lapid conveys Israel's oppressive politics, traumatic militarization of the youth and one filmmaker's clumsy, truthful, angry attitude against the state in one dancing, fruitful, unique film.

Very annoying, arrogant and narcissistic with a world of ethical problems (am I talking about the film or the filmmaker? he made it impossible to seperate :/ ) but yeah, it managed to stay on my mind for a long while after - even if only as a pet peeve.
