This high-stakes action comedy begins where most great heist movies end - with a pair of master thieves escaping to a tropical paradise to enjoy the spoils of their labor. But when an FBI agent, who has pursued them for seven years, becomes convinced that they are actually plotting to pull off a million-dollar theft from a nearby "diamond cruise," a riveting game of cat and mouse begins.

The film takes a lackadaisy approach to the heist which is the wrong approach for a heist film because the audience needs to be in on the a lot of the details of said heist. This leaves the film a sluggish and boring mess that not even Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Don Cheadle, or Naomie Harris can charm their way through.

Brett Ratner is such a boring director. This movie was never going to be anything amazing but it could have been really fun and very Ocean's Elevenish. Instead we get a predictable plot and nothing that will hold up on repeat viewings. For their part the actors did well. Don Cheadle was wasted and should have had way more screen time and Salma Hayek was basically eye candy (and what fabulous eye candy she is).

Purports to show what happens after the heroes of a caper film ride off into the titular event, and this film proves why a caper film usually stops where it does – an attractive, charismatic cast (who all seem to be having a ball in the exotic locale) make it an easy watch, but it’s too benign and laid-back to have any hope of catching fire; woe be the MacGuffin film where no one on screen cares what the MacGuffin is! At least Harrelson and Brosnan’s easy going banter delivers a few chuckles.

This one is kind of a miss. Too silly at times to be taken seriously as a heist movie but not funny enough to be considered a comedy.

Enjoyable action-adventure film. The cinematography is well done giving us some great views in great locations and great views of one of the leads who wears a bikini oh so well. The action is good for the most part. The three main characters doing a good job with their roles, Harrelson and Brosnan have some real chemistry with their cat and mouse games.

In the long stretch leading up to the robbery, Brosnan and Harrelson exchange friendly taunts, each so convinced that the other is hoodwinked that they can both relax (or at least pretend to relax) in the world of Jimmy Buffett songs. The heist itself is already complicated, so the idea of having a cop watch a crook as he plans and executes the crime is an enticing challenge on a screenwriting level. Figuring out how Brosnan can steal the diamond out from under Harrelson's nose.

It has some cheesy scenes I have to say. And it has some enjoyable scenes but in the end I just didn't get what I was looking for. So yeah wouldn't recommend.

Just because you have Salma Hayek running around in skimpy outfits does not mean your movie is good.

Really painful in the way only Brett Ratner movies can be. A waste of time for all involved, which is a shame, because there are some very talented people going to waste here. Salma is easy on the eyes, and Ratner gives her plenty of skimpy outfits to run around in, but there's not much else to commend here.

Surprisingly decent. Although it's very predictable, it's still entertaining. Nobody acts bad and Ratner really makes sure Salma's body is properly shot.

A relatively fun flick but the payoff is not nearly as good as you'd hope it would be. There are plenty of shots of Salma Hayek's boobs though.

Good movie, ruined by Woody. I just can't take that guy seriously in any thing serious. I mean, I want to like the guy, but he's such a dope on-screen.

Mr. Brosnon delivers another "James Bond" performance - except this one sucked worse than his Bond movie. Let it go, Pierce.

As vacuous as it is innocuous, there is great irony in the title, as After the Sunset has come out a few too many years after much better heist flicks have had their time in the sun.
