It starts off interestingly enough; a romantic scene that is ripped from us when we are treated to the night time, when the monster comes. And I was quite enjoying this up until a certain point where it started to derail itself and feel amateurish. There's a long shot that overstays its welcome, and then a scene a while after that overstays its welcome as well. There's good stuff like the tension at night, but it still never amounts to anything amazing, which is a shame because the idea here is

Top badass moment? Hank’s a dude; consider me a bit safety focused if you like, but personally I’d not go to sleep with my back to a door with a big hole in it, if I thought there was something nasty out there trying to get in through it. I enjoyed seeing cheap wine, a record player and a cassette player fully deployed, although I thought Abby was a bit of biach to leave that crappy note. 1 cat, (a beautiful, cute black kitten with its own balloon - initially); no chainsaws or decapitations.

Seems like it was attempting to play as an allegory for emotional turmoil from a failing relationship, yet, it isn't very good at it. It fails at horror, at drama, and at romance. I'd have much rather been watching the monster disembowel everyone in the movie, starting with Abby.

Certainly don't go into this with a monster flick in mind. Is there a monster? Yeah. Is it what creates the tension? No. The character study is welcomed and the deliberate pace works, to a certain degree. I'll continue to seek out Gardner's work, even if I didn't love everything here.

I have to hand it to Jeremy Gardner. He knows how to turn his vision into an actual, enjoyable movie despite a small budget. Lots of respect.

Not a horror film by any stretch of the imagination. It has moments of in-your-face-indi, and could have done with fewer scenes of them being happy. Still a good effort

It's just a very uneven movie. The monster is clearly an allegory to the emotional turmoil that Hank is feeling, and at first the rapid cuts between happy moments of the past to a weird monster clawing at the door work. It loses its pace somewhere halfway through the movie and starts feeling a bit obvious with trying to tug at your heartstrings. It's a shame because idea is there but in the end you're just left feeling a little bit disappointed that a solid thing had disintegrated into nothing.
