This trend of trashy fanfiction actually getting published, then being turned into movies and inspiring trashy fanfiction of its own is honestly kind of fascinating.

Lmao what this. It’s like Fault in Our Stars without the cancer or 50 Shades without the sex or Twilight without vampires. Just soapy melodrama teen romance nothingness! The novel it’s adapted from is literally One Direction fanfiction lmaaaooooo

One of those movies you watch that you don't remember at all but the only thing you do remember is that you hated it.

The trailer completely ruined it for me... Building up an excitement about something mysterious. Seriously?! And then the real life actors show up on the big screen before the movie begin to make us aware of a very important hidden message. What?! It's just a long semi boring teen-flick. *Bad

What a boring, uninteresting piece of fluff. Every crappy cliché crammed into a single film stretched out to no end; there's barely anything even remotely interesting that happens throughout its duration (and by interesting I mean... anything, really. Nothing happens!). Just vomitive.

Hokey, trashy teen romance is made at least passably watchable by its likable leads, and a screenplay which stops short of irredeemably bad, even allowing for plenty of (unintentional) screamers. Likely to have appeal to a limited audience (or to those of us who like to scoff at movies so clearly below us!) but on that basis, this neutered 50 SHADES is perfectly serviceable.

It's cheesy, cliche, & has some truly cringe-inducing dialogue and iffy acting. It's the same teen drama stuff that's been done over and over & is based on a novel written on Wattpad. Despite all of that, I actually enjoyed this, and I'm not sure what that says about me. Strangely, it's clever one moment & the complete opposite the next, with plenty of decent moments throughout & even a couple cute ones. But, it also has some very bland characters & generic plot elements. Not great, not awful.
