Adrift in Manhattan

A mixed bag. While the romantic (?) story of the taciturn, creepy photographer/stalker is exactly as corny, cringey and uneasy as it sounds, the rest of the film, despite the largely predictable, familiar script, certainly has its moments, namely a handful of surprisingly well-executed scenes of moving realism and the very good performances of Heather Graham, Dominic Chianese and William Baldwin. Nevertheless, the aftertaste is that of an inability for any sort of distinctive, memorable closure.

Top badass moment? I rather liked Mr. Sneider, the owner of the camera shop. Despite the shop not doing well, he lets Simon, one of his (seemingly not very useful) employees have an expensive looking lens for his camera, and even gives him another when the first is broken. And he covers for him when someone comes around asking awkward questions. Small things, but nice. Decent people are badass. Not much else happens, except the weird 'lonely sex' scene. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Very interesting story. Director's skills are not exactly on the requested level of the story though.
