Cecil B. DeMille was always interested in studying the creatures that are male and female and their odd custom called marriage, putting a satirical twists while trying to analyze it. Adam's Rib (1923) is not DeMille trying to be as funny as when he was doing a series of marriage twists a few years earlier. This one has a slightly more calm, but you can't escape his satirical touches.
