Action in the North Atlantic

This film is WWII propaganda that may be difficult to fully value without understanding its historical backdrop. In the year leading up to the production of this film, U-boats significantly impacted Allied efforts by attacking shipping convoys, resulting in severe losses. The movie, which celebrates the bravery and sacrifices of these sailors, resonates more profoundly with those who experienced these harrowing times firsthand, mainly when the eventual outcome of these efforts was yet uncertain.

I mean, it's a Humphrey Bogart movie, but it didn't feel like it. More like a underdeveloped wartime movie riding on his star-power. Wasn't easy to write a convincing story with the war always changing things. So besides patriotism, they didn't really find the proper heart in this one.

Padded with propaganda, but a good last 40 minutes.

Solid little war time film.

Bogart makes it watchable.
