I originally saw this in the theater with my immediate family when I was ten years old, and during the part where Jim Carrey crawls out of that animatronic rhino's ass, my father was in hysterics. Hysterics as in he had tears streaming down his face and he was WHEEZING with laughter. I was horrified and humiliated beyond repair. Ten years old.

I'll admit low-brow comedies are my guilty pleasure. This movie isn't intelligent or mature by any means. But if you're like me and can turn your brain off for an hour and a half in order to laugh at some slapstick gags then this movie is for you. If not then stay away from it like the plague.

This is what happens when you let Jim Carrey do whatever he wants over the loosest of plots...shotgun approach where he keeps firing until he hits. It does hit a few times, but people who aren't fans of his will struggle to get through this.

Another instance of Carrey's mania essentially making or breaking the films depending on your opinion of him. The gags aren't great, but he certainly gives it his all.

No, the 77 is not a glib rating. But, yes, this is a glib film. One of the stupidest and yet most watchable sequels of all times. So many fit-inducing scenes of over-the-top comedy: the slinky; "Shi-cago!"; the mechanical rhino breakdown; "and you must be the Monopoly guy!"; the entire "white devil" fight; the shadow figures during the intelligence briefing; and, last but not least, "Hey, you could poke out somebody's eye with that thing!" Love it.

I think it's a little better than the first one, but if you hated the first one, it's not enough better that you'll enjoy this one. It's a "classic" Jim Carrey movie, and you should know already if that appeals to you or not. Me, I can go for some pure stupidity every now and then. P.S. "Your balls are showing."

This time the issue is not transphobia but racism. But again, as with its predecessor, there are sufficient laughs to keep one entertained. The appearance of Simon Callow as the villain is bizarre, not because his performance is not suitable (he's good in the role) but because it does not seem the type of film a thespian would choose to be a part of (although Orson Welles, a similar man of the stage and admirer of Shakespeare, appeared in some absolute stinkers as well).

From a narrative stand point. I can't say it matters all that much. So why the high score? Two words: Jim Carrey. The man who seemingly disappeared in the new age is at his best in the middle nineties. When Nature Calls stands as probably the funnier of the two Ace films, if not the most well thought out.

Jim Carrey is back at it again as "Ace Ventura" in classic sequel fashion, bigger and dumber. Fans of the original should be pleased, but audiences not a fan of low-brow slapstick wont be asking for a third installment.

With a lifeless whodunit plot, no notable secondary characters, and an uncomfortable amount of African culture stereotyping (the tangential scene with the Wachootoo being the worst example), only Carrey's rambunctious animal-lover makes this worth watching. Fortunately, he's in every scene, and while they don't always hit their mark (his trademark lines often feel forced), many are gems (see his confrontation with fox-fur lady), with his bombastic physical comedy impossible not to appreciate.

Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is proof that Jim Carrey and sequels isn't the best of ideas. I'll always love Jim Carrey and he has a back catalogue of several fun and memorable characters. But too much of any of them is wearing. And Ace Ventura is arguably his most exhausting character to endure. There are a handful of laughs here but overall the humour is just repetitive and tired. I'm all for a wacky Jim Carrey, but at times here it can feel overly wacky for the sake of being overly wacky.

Alrighty then! This is the second installment of the Ace Ventura series and instead of ratcheting up the funny factor it went backwards on this one. Sure, there are some funny jokes and quotables but for the most part, this film was a bummer. Jim Carrey overplays his hand a bit and just becomes irksome. I did like his crazy driving/parking, the rhino birth scene and the Monopoly Man bit...

I can't believe that I have to report, that this movie is too exaggerated. After all, Jim Carrey's Jerry Lewis inspired shtick is designed to be just that. But what drove the comedy in the first movie, was that Ace stood in stark and absurd contrast to a sort-of real world. In the sequel Ace's surroundings are as caricatured as he is, pulling the comedy into cartoon territory.

A rare comedy sequel that actually delivers. It's always a delicate balance between bringing back the best jokes from the original and trying to avoid just rehashing them. When Nature Calls strikes that balance well, and delivers perhaps the most iconic scene from the franchise with the rhino scene.

Obviously garbage, but it WAS the film that launched me into an interest in African tribal culture when I was young, which made me interested in general foreign cultures and languages, which essentially helped make me the person I am today. Regardless, it is still a piece of shit.

I found "When Nature Calls" to be overall funnier than the first film but less compelling from a story standpoint. The laugh-out-loud moments were many albeit definitely far from tasteful - but I don't think anyone was expecting something different anyway. In any case, the biggest advantage remains Jim Carrey's exuberant performance - it's a one-man show but that man knows how to make it a hell of a show.

I owe this film a good score for the amount of laughing it made me do when I was thirteen. Not so much now, although the 'monopoly guy' bit still cracks me up every time. It's pretty usual Jim Carey, if a little more childish, so you probably already know whether you're going to like it or not.
