Absurdist parable about Japan's post-war transformation. The macho crime boss who comes out of a stint in jail oblivious to the fact that everything's changed, his lackey whose solution to everything is a bomb, the new-order politician whose motto "we live by the pen!" belies his own corruption (and illiteracy), not to mention the new-wave and noh-style flourishes, make this a pretty enjoyable watch.
