An alternative adaptation of the Madame X melodrama. Production is plain, but the chosen cast filled the void with their individual personalities which mixed well. Frieda Inescort made a dignified performance as the female judge, Rochelle Hudson was the stubborn-headed girl she was supposed to be. Bogey's wife Mayo Methot gave the right kind of energy as her best friend, and Otto Kruger was the slick prosecutor you'd expect him to be. Made the most out of what it had at its disposal.
