The popular silent actress Pola Negri had hit a slump in Hollywood as sound came in and A Woman Commands (1932) was supposed to be her grand re-entry into the headlines taking advantage of her European roots for a royal romance. Unfortunately a tedious royal romance. And it did very little surrounding her with a stellar cast of Basil Rathbone, H.B. Warner, Roland Young & Reginald Owen, for the writing and presentation doesn't do her any favors.
