A Time for Drunken Horses

One-note and manipulative, it starts out wallowing in misery and gets predictably more miserable. Yes, it's a sad situation but I felt little emotional connection to anything going on because it all felt so carefully manufactured to be a massive downer. The child actors are fine as long as they just have to look resigned to their fate, otherwise not so hot. Also, to my amateur eye, the cinematography was nothing more than adequate.

Etkileyici bir film. Anlatılan hikayenin büyüklüğüne, acısına rağmen bu kadar sade olmayı başarabilmesi o kadar iyi ki. Film başlıyor ve izleyiciyi vurup bitiyor o sırada sınır geçilmiş mi geçilmemiş mi hiç önemli değil. Önemli olan oradaki mücadelenin doğrudan ve filtresiz bir şekilde anlatılabilmesi. Tempo de Cavalos Bêbados estreava há 20 anos no Festival de Cannes. Sem dúvida ele está na tradição de partir o coração do cinema iraniano, mas até que ponto a pura tragédia é manipulação do espectador na pornotristeza ou um crescendo da esperada catarse? Em todo caso, a atuação das crinças é excepcional. DVDRip no MakingOff.

A lot of strongly unfair moments (child labour, poor access to education and medical treatment) give you a lot to think. The story of that children is what love is.

The whole finale is memorable, partly because it's gloomily picturesque, and partly because of the animal cruelty. Otherwise, the plot, the characters and the dialogue are all paper-thin, and even the acting is sub-par for an Iranian movie. Unless you're one of those viewers who fawn over any portrayal of children facing hardships, no matter how little there is to it, I wouldn't particularly recommend this.
