A Study in Scarlet

Anna May Wong! I liked that this was a lighter adaptation of Sherlock. Fav scene: lady wearing the dress with the puffy see-through polka dot sleeves

One of the better Sherlock Holmes movies of the early sound era and with Reginald Owen as the notorious detective. Co-incidentally Owen played Dr.Watson the year before in Fox Film's Sherlock Holmes (1932). While Owen doesn't really look like a Sherlock (at least not my image of the guy), he does perform like one and with a complex mystery it's an pleasurable experience. And this also features the lovely Anna May Wong and with comical input from Billy Bevan, so I'm satisfied with it.

Not a terrible Sherlock Holmes mystery, Reginald Owen is a decent Holmes but doesn't quite pull it off. Most of the acting is pretty bad but that is to be expected from a B-picture from the early '30s.
