Well, what are these kinds of movies without being at least a little implausible, but...anyway, Lizabeth Scott has a field day in her two roles, and Henreid is as always understated, quietly understanding (and a bit melancholy) as Ritter. Main problem was I think that it took quite a while to warm up and get to the central premise (and the movie isn't all that long, after all). Also suffers (as British noirs frequently do) from absurdly inappropriate musical scores at times.

Makes a neat Henreid double feature of doubles with "The Scar".

An extremely silly, but mildly enjoyable Hammer noir from Terence Fisher. The two Hollywood stars boost it's profile a bit, but neither are really stretching a whole lot here, even with Scott playing two parts. It's a decent way to spend just a bit more than an hour. Future Hammer scribe Jimmy Sangster is the assistant director.

Double Lizabeth Scott should have been more thrilling than this. But Stolen Face (1952) is still an interesting look at the growth of UK's Hammer Films, upgrading with big name Hollywood stars and with production to rival those Hollywood studios too. Now they just needed writers to fine-tune the scripts and making those macabre stories give you chills. This was close.
