Derek has been injured in the war and is in hospital to have an operation. The doctor opens the window and the lovely singing of Helen Maxwell drifts into the room as Derek is anaethetised. Alas, when he wakes up it is with his memory gone. He doesn't remember his fiancee, and his mother is a stranger to him. Four years later, Derek is playing the piano in a club, and Helen appears as the singer. The moment she opens her mouth, he freezes - he recognises her voice! (imdb)

The only film of Evelyn McCabe, a opera singer who had some personality, but I'm not sure how well that voice translated to the cinema. There was something about that deeper range which became cringy for me. All about the story of a soldier suffering from amnesia being obsessed with her voice, and I'm not sure if it was supposed to be romantic or a horror with her melodies playing hauntingly through-out. Actually works better if you take it as a horror, because that's what it was for me.
