A Solar Dream

2016
Animation
1h 3m
Without any apparent coherence or story, this oneiric trip essentially evokes the battle between light and darkness. An incredible phantasmagoria of colours and movement opens up new worlds. If ever a filmmaker could be compared to an alchemist, it is this tireless inventor of new imaging techniques. (Cineuropa)

Some parts are indeed a cinema of incandescent material (quoting Norstein), a Bataillean expression of solar exuberance, and at other times it almost seems like Bokanowski's KOYAANISQATSI, via Dostoyevsky's DEMONS, but, as usual with this filmmaker, the ultimate significance is elusive, or is about the process of making itself, and the way in which images can give much more than they are usually asked to give, aiming at a kind of sur-real cosmic potlatch, but does he succeed in taking us there?
