A Simple Wish

A Simple Wish isn't a good film; but there's still a certain charm to watching Short, Turner & Plummer (who plays a dog-turned-human) ham it up for 90 min. Everything about the film exudes 90's low-budget; from the outfits to the hair to the effects, it's almost endearing. The plot is decent, but some weird cuts (presumably to keep the runtime down) and a fumbled ending let the film down. There's even a few genuinely good jokes amongst the silliness & questionable (by today's standards) content.

I loved Wilson in Matilda, but this movie just doesn't know what to be or what to do and, as such, is a lot of nothing except serviceable fantasy.

Perfectly fun little kids movie nothing less nothing more. Most adults wouldn't care for it that much.

Those tender years.
