Carpetgiant rather enjoyed "A Shock to the System", even if that meant he was subjected to Hulu's frequent commercial breaks and endured laxative and heartburn advertisements several times. However, what the Criticker reviewer found perplexing was the decision to have Michael Caine, who plays the movie's protagonist, narrate the film in third person.

Michael Caine is great as a normal office worker who hates how dull his life has become and decides to make his life better by removing the obstacles blocking him from personal and professional success. He really makes the movie suspenseful as he believably turns to murder.
