Feverish as art house can get. A pace similar to that of Jodorowsky although it is not nearly as grand. The male figure digresses as his curiosity is overwhelmed by the female's arousal. A physical satisfaction is no longer sufficient, as a lust for the unattainable turns detrimental to the artist's life.

Periodically interesting but kind of dull and abstract artsy piece that has a few things going for it but ultimately did very little for me. The music (opening/closing title, which also plays several times in the movie) is pretty great, and there are some interesting images here and there, but it's all a little muddled and meandering. Very different and weird. The opening title sequence is fantastic.

Franco Nero is so hot, even ghosts can't resist him. An absolutely wild watch that was a highlight of my October horror viewing.

The story is decent and the acting is over-the-top but still okay, but the pacing was too slow and the ending wasn't worth the wait.

It doesn't take you long to figure out that this is going to be a very different type of film.

Arthouse director Elio Petri's foray into giallo is definitely more sophisticated than most of what the genre offers. It's an interesting hybrid of mystery, ghost story and psychological thriller, with lively and often arresting photography from the always great Luigi Kuveiller. It just hasn't aged as well as Petri's other stuff, and isn't actually scary.

These are the dangers of pop art, kids. It veers off into Smugland at times, but it otherwise bristles with an infectious manic energy.
