Oh, the lame jokes! The savior is Ginger Rogers turning-up for a couple of musical numbers in one of her earliest screen appearances. This was before she became a blond, and was closer to a Helen Kane imitator (think Betty Boop) than the Ginger that became an icon. She was still cute and instantly likable during the limited time she got to show-off her skills.
