They take a concept that wasn't even funny in a two minute sketch and attempted to drag out the "fun" for 90 minutes. A do it yourself vasectomy kit involves less pain.

I'm torn at rating this. On the one hand the humour is just so completely stupid it's bad. But it kind of shifts from so bad it's just bad to so bad it's funny. I can't lie when Chris Kattan slipped and fell I was in tears. Therefor I've got to give it an "alright" rating. As a warning, watch with your buddies that enjoy low-brow humour otherwise you'll never get pleasure out of this.

Heh. Yeah this isn't very good, and it really tails off in the second half, but the first half is pretty funny. "You can take away our cars, and you can take away our phones, but you cannot take away our dreams!" "Yeah, 'cause we're sleeping when we have them!"

Yes it's stupid and totally predictable, and certainly not the best Will Ferrell movie out there, but the soundtrack is great, and there are parts where Chris Kattan is actually funny. Also, don't underestimate the groundbreaking concept of the outside club - what a vision!

Thin but fairly harmless comedy is good-natured enough as it coasts on the inherent likability of Ferrell and Kattan. Possibly too laid-back and definitely too aimless to be consistently enjoyable, Ferrell would do much better with the surprisingly similar STEP-BROTHERS, but as a slice of 90s SNL comedy, you could do a lot worse; at least there are a few silly chuckles along the way.

The skits were probably better. The first 30 min can be amusing, but the plot attempt with the wedding was mediocre and made this drag on too long. I give it points for cultural significance, but that is mostly it

It feels like an extended SNL skit because that is exactly what it is, but for me it still works really quite well (perhaps better than it has a right to) as a goofball comedy.

As a Saturday Night Live sketch turned feature film, the movie feels like it. Not the kind of sketch that has a fun premise or interesting characters, but a joke that is kinda funny and runs the gambit of kinda funny, to not funny, to bad, back up to not funny, and eventually back to kinda funny again. Overall not really worth the few bright spots, unless you are a die hard Chris Kattan fan.

It was just rather painful to watch. The plot was lacking, which I expected to some degree. The humor was just awkward as most of it is at the expense of the main characters. Stick to watching the sketches if you remember them fondly and skip the movie.

Kattan and a pre-mega fame Ferrell play stupid brothers who are obsessed with getting in to the Roxbury, a fashionable club they aren't cool enough to enter. It's a dumb film about dumb people, but Kattan and Farrell make it work due to their moronic charm and persistence, and they are given strong support by Hedaya and Shannon. Palminteri has an amusing uncredited role as a rich nightclub owner. It's simply impossible to get What Is Love? out of your head after watching it.

This comedy extends and embellishes characters. Looking cool, brothers Steve (Ferrell) and Doug Butabi (Kattan) always fail to pick up women in their hapless nightclub jaunts. In Beverly Hills, they work at a fake-flower store run by their father(Dan Hedaya). They are always denied entrance to the Roxbury, a leading discotheque, but an auto accident with Richard Grieco (portraying himself) gives them a foot in the door.

Ok, so its a low budget movie. We dont have to get reminded in every scene. Even for a comedy it looks shitty. The jokes are infant level, the acting is.. well. we all know will Ferrel and co., and the story could have been written by a monkey. A stupid monkey, that is.A below average comedy, look for a young and upcoming Eva Mendez in a cameo as a bridesmaid!

It walks the thin line between being funny and being ridiculous most of the time very well. Just the physical aspect of what Farrell and Kattan did was funny enough actually. Most probably I would have written it off if I had watched it back in the day, but as a 90s throwback it was rather enjoyable.

Other than Wayne's World, Lorne Michaels' track record on the big screen is...well, pretty terrible. This is one of the better ones, though it still gets a failing grade, so what does that tell you? It's an excessively dumb movie, and I find Kattan to be insufferable, but it is memorable and has a few inspired moments of hilarity. The more I think about it the more I see parallels between this and Step Brothers, which is a much funnier movie because John C. Reilly > Chris Kattan.
